Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club

This course is by far one of the worst courses I’ve played in central Florida area. Greens in disarray, fairways full of weeds & soft spots, bunkers missing sand & rough that is mostly just crab grass and other assorted weeds. The driving range looked like it hadn’t been maintained in months with the vast majority of the roped area being divot city. If you told me this course was 19.99 for 18 holes I still wouldn’t come here.

The course is tight but fun to play. Greens are in great shape and the fairways look and feel good. Sand traps are nice but could use some sand in a few of them. A rest room would be a nice touch.. My group had fun and we will be back to play it again. Also the staff was great.

The only thing I was uneasy about were the bathrooms. Being non existent on the course . Porta pots aren’t for women

Noticeable improvements have been made since our last visit a couple of months ago. Greens overall are rolling good. Areas along the fairways and around the greens which were once bare have been sodded and repaired, a bit thick but understandable as it will time to grow in. Fairways also are in better shape. Bunkers are in need of sand.

Overall we enjoyed our round and look forward to playing here again.

I was here a couple months ago and I could clearly see the course conditions improving from then. Greens are in great condition. Fairways were good. The rough still has some weeds but nothing unusual from other courses in the area. The tees were much better this time. They get a bad rap on this site. It's actually much better than what some are saying. Staff is friendly. Clubhouse is very nice. Very good deals online.

Even though ruff was too high. They had an excuse their ruff mower had been waiting for parts? But course layout is unique! Staff was very friendly!

Greens were fine.Goose grass growing everywhere. Tees were either all mud or brown dead grass.

This course was very inexpensive but the ruff was so bad! After playing had a drink in the club house the staff was very nice and found out that their ruff mower had been down and just got parts in to fix. Looked like they had been mowing some of the front nine holes. So I think it will be better very soon. Loved the layout of the course! Many unique holes!

We played it after them having 5 inches of rain a few days before. That being said,the low rating came from tees that had sparse brown grass or no grass at all. What is called Goose Grass is everywhere. Nice track but really needs plenty of work. Greens were nice. Employees,fantastic. Said they were raising rates because of prime season. They should lower rates.

This time of year with the rain we’ve had on the area , the course was naturally wet where the wetland meets the course. If you expect any course to be different you can’t be from the area. The tees and rough show the signs of a hot summer but will soon recover. Rough is well kept. Only shows the signs of how difficult it is to keep weeds from intruding when wetlands are close and you have to deal with environmental regulations. Overall a very enjoyable course, well worth it.
