About
Located in Florida’s oldest city, Royal St. Augustine Golf & Country Club offers a glimpse of the area’s lush foliage and native marshlands. The course has a visually interesting layout with elevated, sprawling greens and a variety of bunker shapes and sizes. The moguled fairways and sandy waste areas are two other distinguishing features of the course. It is a tight course with large greens and gentle undulations. The layout provides a “target-golf” experience that puts a premium on accuracy and distance control. The numerous bends in the course in combination with the blustery winds also makes proper club selection very important.

Fair for the price!
We almost didn’t go because of the other reviews but had to check it out as it used to be a great course! Second time playing Royal this month, You get what you pay for! If you want a full 18 under $40 on a challenging course with some fun hazards it’s worth it. Fairways could be in better shape but again, this is a $39 round! The greens definitely beat South Hampton. Staff is very friendly and pace of play is usually decent!

Felt like I was playing in Scotland(not in a good way)
Bunkers are just always full of water, rough was ankle high. Golfers had no sense of who was behind them/drop time. Understandable why it was such a cheap tee time now.

WOW, I heard about this course many times and decided to give it a shot. Being a Lefty with a MEAN POWER FADE This course ate my lunch but as long as I kept it in the fairway it was not too bad :) Conditions could use some improvement. (CUT THE DANG GRASS). Let's just say the Course Record is Still Intact. The best part of the whole day was the 19th hole. My friends and I enjoyed the food and the Margaritas put together by the friendliest Young Ladies behind a Bar. FIVE STARS ***** I did get a Photo of one of the Young Ladies but never got one of the Blonde Haired young lady who said she was 30-something but she could not have been over 29. Great Time, See ya'll again Soon!!

Rough very overgrown
The 1st cut off fairways was usually un playable 2 ft high rough. Lost 8 balls!!

Great round!
Course could use some improvements but overall in good shape. Glad I didn’t read into some of those other reviews. After playing here a few years ago and really enjoyed so decided to ignore the reviews and proved to be a good decision. Greens were good not great, tee boxes were okay, fairways were great, second cut was a little furry, the the staff was friendly. Definitely will be back.

Cheap and not in good shape
Course was in incredibly rough shape. Weeds growing in the fairway, and tee boxes were more dirt than grass.

Need a better grounds keeper
Some of the greens had fungus. Some greens were half dead or dying. Lots of weeds in the fairways and around greens. I've played there many times and this is a s bad as I have seen the course be in.

Poor conditions.
Course has gone downhill in maintenance since last time we played here tee boxes shoddy fairways look like crabgrass and an old cow pasture mixed. Needs a revamped on course conditions. Fairway bunkers flooded other than that for the price wasn't worth the trip. Was running late and couldn't get thru to clubhouse by phone as tried to call for hour to let them know would be there. Seriously not worth the time.

Surprising
Never sure what type of condition you’ll find it but what a surprise. Greens were surprisingly very good which was a big surprise since past experiences have been very disappointing where they were basically unputtable. Fairways were very good as well. The course is extremely tight so hit it straight. In the rough and or just off the fairway you’ll need a search party at times.

Hot Summer Round
Blazing hot summer conditions. Course in fair to good shape, and pace of play was quick to get out of the heat. RSA layout always a challenge, bring plenty of golf balls.

Worst course conditions I have ever seen.
Very disappointed in the conditions of the course. We walked on, so we paid a premium, and it was not really, not at all, worth the price we paid. Tee boxes were overgrown, or patchy or both. Greens were in horrible shape. There is no cart service. I have played royal St. Augustine, many times over the years, and though it’s not my favorite course, as it’s not, very forgiving, I’ve always come back to it. But this may be the last time I played. At least for a while. Very disappointing.

Nice ish course. Very narrow fairways so expect to lose some balls! Greens need some work. Has had a ton of rain so bring bug spray!

IT's the Royal
This place is the classic love-hate course for me. There's lots of challenging shots which make it fun but there's lots of frustrating mounds which bounce a good shot into the weeds and into oblivion.
The 17th hole is the only reasonably normal hole on the course. Almost all of the others are an adventure of some sort.

Needs work
Loved the layout of the course but as a first timer should have had a course book. The course needs a little work but could be a premium course. Didn’t see any workers on the course that could be the issue. Would love to see someone put a little work in the course. My advice leave the driver in the bag narrow and short holes that will run out into trouble.
