About
Located in Florida’s oldest city, Royal St. Augustine Golf & Country Club offers a glimpse of the area’s lush foliage and native marshlands. The course has a visually interesting layout with elevated, sprawling greens and a variety of bunker shapes and sizes. The moguled fairways and sandy waste areas are two other distinguishing features of the course. It is a tight course with large greens and gentle undulations. The layout provides a “target-golf” experience that puts a premium on accuracy and distance control. The numerous bends in the course in combination with the blustery winds also makes proper club selection very important.

Narrow Layout
Tight course, narrow fairways but nice layout. Check in went smoothly and staff was very honest about the course (well appreciated). Some of the greens and around the edges had a lot of bad spots, but the ones that were good were very good. Biggest negative on the course was whoever did their grass cutting left it way too short and burn marks were all over the place.
Really a shame because parts of the course were in decent shape. Got a great price to play it and it was 1 hr and 1/2 away so for the same price we would play again but the course definitely needs better groundskeeper and management.

It's a shame.............
The course has so much potential with it's course layout. All the holes are different with traps and water on ever hole. The tee boxes are literally just seed no grass. The greens and fairwaiare trash. If your looking to a serious round of golf don't don't go here. Just putting your ball will bounce around and not hold a line can. I did get my tee time as hot deal $35.00. I wouldn't pay a penny more. Could be a great course with real maintenance

dont waste your time
16 of 18 greens, were not good, in fact they were terrible. this killed the putting game, it made the golf experience worthless. tee boxes were in unacceptable conditions. on the back nine there was a group of six waiting on a group of four, we went to the front nine again and again, 7 golfers on 1st tee. pay to play somewhere else.

ITS LIKE A NUCLEAR BOMB HIT THE COURSE
DO NOT waste your money. It’s honestly a shame this course even exists. I played this course while on vacation from Ohio and almost left the course after playing the first hole. The greens were so bad on some holes that I didn’t even putt. The course pace was terrible. Had to wait at least 5 mins on every tee for the group in front of us on a Monday morning. The young man running the pro shop was kind, and that’s about the only thing I’ll give this course, lol. Also, it’s super confusing to find tee box 1, I asked a local resident taking a walk, and he rode in the cart with me and showed me where to go. He said he’d own the course if he had a dollar for every time someone asked for directions. Just put up a couple of signs or at least give us instructions in the pro shop.

Greens in poor condition. Black spots all over. Fairways ok. Most tee boxes were all dirt/sand. No grass.

Poor conditions
NO STARTER, NO RANGE BALLS. FAIRWAYS UNRULEY WITH LARGE WEEDS. MAINTAINENCE DUDE DUSRUPTED PLAY BLOCKING CART PATH NEAR 9TH GREEN, STATRED UP A GAS Trimmer when we were putting out.

I don’t recommend this course.
There were quite a few fairways and/or greens that were in really rough shape. The staff was very friendly though, and I enjoyed a good lunch at the turn. There’s a phone number at the 9th hole to call ahead. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the course for the cost of between $40 and $50 which I paid.

The tee boxes and fairways were good but the greens were as bad as I have ever played. They were terrible. I brought two fiends with me from Atlanta and were absolutly embarrassed that the course was so bad. Every green was bad

Great course for price
I enjoyed the outing very much. The staff was very friendly. I am a 25 handicap so the course suited me well. Was warned that there were some trouble spots on greens but found that to not be true. I have already booked a tee time for next Monday.

This place needs to be overhalled if it wants to attract new players that want to say something nice about the course. If I lived in the community, I’d be highly upset and wonder what the association fees are being spent on.
