Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club

Course was not well maintained. Fast greens. Starter kept commenting on us being late teeing off 5 minutes before our time, but we didn’t hold anyone up. Very tight, you will lose balls

I am basing my review on the fact that it was not too expensive to play and generally a fun layout. There were rough patches. The fairways were rough and the greens were not perfect, but overall we had a fun time. The staff was great. I think they are trying to improve the course. I would say that the value for the price I paid was worth it. All of the people complaining need to put it in perspective. IF they want a well manicured course, $27 with cart is not the price point this can be achieved. If it means anything, I would play again!!

This course honestly wasn’t bad as most people make it out to be. It’s not a 5-star course by any means, but still challenging and enjoyable. Greens on the back 9 need some work, but all the grass within 20’ of the pin seemed ok. Play it safe and try to hit close to the hole. Staff was friendly. There was no rakes for the bunkers, unfortunately.

So I started my yearly vacation off today and was sorry to see the first 5 holes have gotten worse than the last time. The first hole tempary green 100 yards shorter than the green.

I've been coming to the Jax area to visit for 25 years and thought this could be a better course than the reviews it gets but the upkeep is terrible....

I don’t know what has happened for the course to be so badly let go. The first four or five holes in particular saw a temporary green and waterlogged fairways with poor quality tee boxes. One hole, the short par 4 dogleg (4th I think) had deep tracks where players were going over sodden fairways. It wasn’t marked as GUR.

I’ve played this course many times in the past. It’s tight and the cambered fairways make it a big challenge, but mossy, sodden fairways and bumpy greens now make it too challenging and no fun at all.

I wondered why the carpark was virtually empty on a Sunday morning - prime golf time. Well word has obviously got out and even at $27, it represents very poor value for money. Like I say in the title, what a shame!

The fairways and greens are in poor condition.

The layout is some what difficult, landscape is very nice.

Marking and course direction needs a lots of improving.

We ended up twice on the wrong hole.

At this time I can not recommend this course..

This course is pretty cool the way it goes all over. You cross bridges that go over the road, ride thru neighborhoods and in many case go about half a mile between green and next tee. I thought it was a fun course although the greens were in rough shape.

I will play it again.

Staff friendly. Very good chalenge. We play this golf course once a year since many years, maybe the bad condition this novembre 2022.
