Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club
About
Located in Florida’s oldest city, Royal St. Augustine Golf & Country Club offers a glimpse of the area’s lush foliage and native marshlands. The course has a visually interesting layout with elevated, sprawling greens and a variety of bunker shapes and sizes. The moguled fairways and sandy waste areas are two other distinguishing features of the course. It is a tight course with large greens and gentle undulations. The layout provides a “target-golf” experience that puts a premium on accuracy and distance control. The numerous bends in the course in combination with the blustery winds also makes proper club selection very important.

My first round in Florida ... never going back to PA :P Photo submitted by Eric3413 on 08/06/2013
Corse and bathrooms in terrible condition
This is by far the worst course I have ever played. The tee boxes were mostly dirt and the greens were in terrible shape. The fairways were just ok. The first thing that really upset us was the the condition of the bathrooms.
They were disgustingly filthy and the toilet bowls had Human waste all over them. Looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. My wife did not play but did use the bathroom and also said the bathroom was disgusting.
Definitely not the "COUNTRY CLUBS" were accustomed to.
Tight !!
This course is in need of repair. The clubhouse is old needs renovation. The courses greens need a lot of work not all but most. Fairways were ok but very tight. Leave the driver in the bag the majority of the holes. Alot of water on this course and almost every fairway had hazards on both sides. A challenging golf course but old and run down . You can see it when you arrive at the Clubhouse.
Goat track
Very disappointed I wouldn’t play this course if it was free.
Tight Course
This course has an awesome layout. Almost every tee shot from back Tees is chute to a tight fairway. Approach shots are also interesting do to challenging green complexes. Unfortunately, the course is run down and lacks maintenance on tee boxes, fairways, greens and especially bunkers. No rakes anywhere. All in all, it was a fun layout and very reasonable price...we will play here again.
Great value
Nice little clubhouse, funky layout thru a neighborhood. Lots of water. Most greens were in good shape, fairways decent but a little dry. I would definitely play here again, had a fun day! Full bar in clubhouse was nice.
Royal St Augustine still needs work - good for iron practice
Not much has changed
Crowned fairways
Clearly not watering enough
Chewed up tee boxes
Fairways are bare in spots and weeds have grown
Hard fairways and greens
Some greens are pretty bumpy
Balls will run off into water or woods
You will lose at least a dozen balls
Leave your driver in the bag
Good practice for irons
Course runs through many different developments which was interesting, ,lots of water, some narrow fairways, you must be able to place your shots, fortunately we played with a gentlemen that played the course before
Nice course
A couple greens are in pretty bad shape, but it’s a good course, cool layout. Needs a little TLC, but still challenging.. staff is very nice, cool bar.
Early Spring Day
A cool and misty early spring day. Course in fair condition and always very challenging.
Good fun and food in the restaurant.
Don’t waste your money
Terrible from the tee box to the greens. One of the worst courses I’ve ever played.
1st Time Round Royal Palm at St Augustine
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Nice driving range close to club house to warm up. Course was in good condition for mid-March and dry. Layout was fine and gave a good challenge. You want to strategize for each hole. Course had lots of moguls and hazards that required you to think how you wanted to approach the green Greens were moderate size and fast. Ground crew does a good job. Good value for a round of golf.
Just awful
Save your money and play elsewhere. It really is in horrendous shape. I paid for 18 and left after 9. Didn’t even bother to ask for partial refund just get me out of there!
