Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club
About
Located in Florida’s oldest city, Royal St. Augustine Golf & Country Club offers a glimpse of the area’s lush foliage and native marshlands. The course has a visually interesting layout with elevated, sprawling greens and a variety of bunker shapes and sizes. The moguled fairways and sandy waste areas are two other distinguishing features of the course. It is a tight course with large greens and gentle undulations. The layout provides a “target-golf” experience that puts a premium on accuracy and distance control. The numerous bends in the course in combination with the blustery winds also makes proper club selection very important.

My first round in Florida ... never going back to PA :P Photo submitted by Eric3413 on 08/06/2013
Amazing course for the price!
The course was in amazing shape! Greens were a little on the slow side but in great shape. Long drives between holes and not a lot of signage but we figured it out. Will definitely be coming back!
Very Tight
I’m from up north and our courses are a lot more forgiving. There is water on nearly every hole on this course. Hit an errant shot in the woods and forget about it. Rough was thick. You really get punished for errant shots on this course. Bring extra balls.
The course was in great shape and scenic. Lots of challenging and rich holes. I think I used my driver 3 times the entire round.. lots of laying up.
Fun Course
Had a fun day. Beware, the course can be TIGHT in spots. Love to play the course when I’m in town. You should give it a try.
Horribke
Golf course was in terrible condition and although the price wasn’t high it did not measure up to other courses in the area for same price. Terrible experience and I would avoid this course at all costs!
Nice course.... without the photographer!
So my daughter and I came to play here for the first time. Staff was friendly, not much of a driving range (enough to warmup on), and finding the first tee was a bit of a challenge. Got there and ready to tee off when up rolls a golf cart with a man with more local knowledge than Ponce de Leon! After he stopped us from starting he talked to us for 5 solid minutes on what we should and shouldn’t do, how “difficult” the course is, and then proceeds to make us pose for a photograph??? Played golf for 35 years and NEVER had that happen. He then proceeds to pull up on the tee box right behind me to watch me tee off! Wow. Again, another first. Other than being accosted by this man at the turn to “purchase” the picture he had taken of us, the rest of the day was great. Pace of play was awesome, which is important to us. Course conditions were fine. Greens were slower than what we are used to, but very playable. Very glad the assistant pro was nice enough to give us a yardage book that had pictures of all the holes. Made it easier to play for the first time. I would definitely come back to this course, but would be VERY happy to not be photographed and accosted. Definitely dampened the experience.
Better
course is tight, condition for the money is good.. Some greens need some tlc, but overall very playable. One thing that is confusing is a par five, that the card says is 460 something.
When on the tee box its 375.. I will play it agai b.
Great layout
This course make you play every club in the bag. Bring your iron game because this one is narrow but relatively large greens. Greens were a little slow for me but I’m really good shape. I play this course about twice a year while on vacation. I’ll be back in a few months!
Good layout - very strange ending!
The course was in good conditions. The fairways were tight but far. The greens were also in good condition. The one thing that was really strange, at the end of the round a guy, I assume that worked at the course came up to my group and showed us a picture that he took of us on a tee box in a frame and asked if we wanted to purchase for $10. He never asked us if he could take a picture of my group when we were playing. I never in my life experienced anything like that before. The course management should inform the paying players if they were OK with this. My group and I felt very uneasy about this!
Great course conditions.
Good greens and excellent pace of play. Must be able to control your tee shots to score well.
Good value.
Good value but was in better condition in January. Greens could be in better shape. Friendly staff.
Fair Price for the Conditions
Staff is very friendly as usual. Course condition is better than it’s been in months, greens in decent shape but not quite there yet with some playing slower than others. Not much of a rough, it’s either fairway or forest. Carts are showing age and wear without signs of improvement.
Tough day.
The fairways were lush with a mix of weeds, neatly groomed. The greens were smooth running at 10.5 or so on the stint meter. Bring your best game, because the fairways are tight with plenty of undulation.
