The Lakes Country Club

About
The Lakes Country Club sprawls across acres of lush North Carolina countryside, offering a glimpse of the wildlife and vegetation that is unique to Boiling Springs Lakes. Being the oldest golf course in Brunswick County, it has become a local favorite over the years. The course is a manageable 6,700 yards from the tips, making it approachable enough for less experienced players. While it is not the most formidable challenge it is enjoyable for a range of skill levels. As the golf course's name would imply, there are numerous lakes that come into play often, especially on the front nine. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout. The Lakes C.C. is popular for being not only a player-friendly, well maintained golf course but also being one of the best values in the area.

Good value
When I visit family in the area I play the Lakes. It's close, the price is right, and the staff are great. They are very accommodating in getting me out as a single. A few holes have some beat up tee boxes and fairways but for the most part the course is worth what you pay. Are there nicer courses around? Sure, but for me the available tee times and price work out in my favor. See you next time Lakes.
Course needs work
Played this course for the first time and won't be hurrying back. The tee boxes were in rough shape. The fairways were worse. Many areas with no grass at all. Had a problem with the carts. They shut down because they thought we were in a "restricted area" even though we were on the cart path. Had to play a couple of holes by driving the carts backwards. Ridiculous, but no other options.
Needs work
Course was in very rough shape whwn we played, it was like playing in my backyard
It’s gonna be a very good course
Really enjoyed playing here. They are working hard to get it right. Some on the greens were showing some distress from lack of rain, but they putted fairly. They have sprayed the fairways to get rid of weeds so the Bermuda can come back. Really excited to see what this course will look like next summer.
Real Surprise
Everything was above my expectations! The only issue we had was carrpath only front nine and the ruff had not been mowed. Back 9 was ok but again the ruff was an issue. Hopefully they will get a handle on the ruff when it dries out. This is a fun venue. Nothing I have said would stop me from playing again soon.
Poor quality course
The fairways I would hardly call them that, the staff was so sweet and friendly and the clubhouse looks great but if they put some money into actually taking care of the course instead of a new clubhouse I think they would benefit. The layout of the 2nd hole and the 3rd is not good you’re teeing off 3 yards from where the green is on the 2nd hole anyone hits it over or to the right they’re hitting someone who’s teeing off on the next hole. The fairways were in horrible condition and the greens weren’t any better. Honestly not worth the 45 dollars.
Needs Time
Was told under new ownership. They moved the course across the road. Front 9 was mostly unplayable due to all the rain. The drainage is really poor on the front 9. Holes 3-5, most of 7 and 8 under water. If that is the new course, they needed to do better with drainage. Also, Fairways are not great. Hole design is good. Lots of dog legs since there is not a ton of elevation change. Greens were decent despite all the rain. Staff was nice. I think if they put some more effort into drainage and proper maintenance on the front 9 and do a better job defining the Fairways and use better grass, could be a decent course for the price.
Course needs some maintenance
Comparing the front and back 9 the back was in a little better condition. However a lot of mowing at least would be beneficial, a lot of the tee boxes were in really bad shape, the greens for the most part were decent.
Overall good experience!
Good course with extremely friendly staff!
Some of the fairways on the par 5 need some work, but the greens were in good shape. Definitely will play again.
Good Bones
This course is trying to be revived, you can tell the previous owners let it get run down. The course has good bones and with some time, effort, and money can be a good course. As of now, the greens are getting really nice, but the tee box and fairways are almost like playing in your backyard. The new pro shop has a really good feel to it, and the new carts with the GPS system are a great addition. Getting a beverage cart would do wonders for this course! All in all, for $45 for 18 and a cart, the value is there and the course layout will challenge you. Go into your first round with an open mind and you’ll have a great time.
The lakes golf course
A good strategic golf course. It was worth the price the staff was super friendly and I’d definitely go again
Nice clubhouse
Had the 7:20am tee time, 7:10 was waiting for their last player so they offered to let me go first. Fast pleasant round. Move to a new clubhouse this past March, new facilities are nice and staff was very courteous,
