Great first time
First time ever playing this course, for hot deal of $25 for 18/cart, no worries about the course. The crew was working on the sand bunkers on 18-16 so they know the bunkers have issues. The course rubs through two big neighborhoods and have signs and painted arrows on the road to follow. Awesome time today playing as a solo and then joining two other players 14th to the end.
Staff are super helpful and laid back.

Regardless of the time of day, there’s a slow group of members playing in front of you and they don’t believe in letting a single play through, in fact, they wouldn’t dream of it

Surprising
Playing this course for the first time. A nice variation of par #, $ and 5 holes with some pretty difficult ones. Quite a bit of height difference making it interesting.

No thanks
Will not be playing this course ever again. This course should be $30 tops. Absolutely terrible condition and a few of the holes have ridiculous setups.
Not toooo bad, but.
Well the pace of play was not good and there was not a starter. When I arrived there was only 1 person on duty. My Tee time was 930. I arrived approximately 740. No one knew the Pin position. The only refreshment were the from the Cart Girl. I'm not a needy person, but staff needs to be on time to work and to keep the Pace of play you need a Marshall or a starter monitoring. With all that said, I would play this course again. My group played with a member. The slow play messed his round up I'm sure.

This course needs help
Montclair has major issues. Where to start. Tee boxes are mostly hard dirt. I had trouble getting a tee into many. All fairways, except #18, were hard as a rock without much grass. If all holes were like #18, it would be a wonderful little course. Greens were ok, and rolled true. Bunkers were minimally acceptable. Get off the fairway, forget it. I’m just guessing, but it felt like the course and community has decided not to spend any money on the course. Golf Now should drop it from it’s offerings!

Overall a nice course
Course layout is a good one. A nice mixture of short par 4’s and long ones. Overall I really enjoyed myself.

The course has some tough holes that slope towards danger or have some carry shots. The trees and brush have grown out a bit since spring time and it makes hitting from the blue tees much tighter than it used to be. Still a fun course to play but greens could use some help.
A Gem!
Montclair is the best kept secret in NoVa.
