Oak Creek Golf Club
About
Oak Creek Golf Course in Irvine boasts a course designed by Tom Fazio, who has been hailed as the best modern-day course architect. The layout features tapered fairways and multi-tiered greens that roll perfectly. Several sparkling lakes dot the lush greens landscape as well as a few mature eucalyptus trees, though the course is mostly open. The bulk of the challenges of this golf course are comprised of the bull-nosed carved bunkers that are strategically placed throughout. Vivid vegetation accentuates the course and the city gets more than 300 days of sunshine a year, providing the perfect setting for a round. Oak Creek Golf Course is also popular for its practice facility, which includes 65 natural turf tees, a nine-acre all-terrain landing area, two putting greens, and a large practice bunker. It is one of the most popular practice facilities in southern California.

Great layout
Fazio did a great job on this course. Fantastic design, good shots are rewarded and just missed shots are usually playable. generous landing areas. The bunkers are plentiful. All in all a great track. As usually pace is an issue, but we finished in 4:10.
Perfect day
The course is in immaculate condition and there is tremendous shot value. As a five handicap with decent skills the course is challenging enough to me but wasn't too challenging for my 15 handicap friend.
vacation round
Good course good staff wide fairways UN to play, I'll be back
The oak
I have played here a few times, would play here more but the price is just too high. Last time I played here the course was in great shape, Best practice location in Orange County.
Best kept secret in the area
I was the first tee time of the day, and the twosome i was scheduled to golf with didn't show. The starter explained this to me and gave me some tips on the course based on a quick conversation we had about my golf handicap index, and playing style. Per the starter's advice, I played from the tips, and enjoyed this course and its many challenges. Playing from the tips makes the par 3s very long, and a couple of the par 5s are almost unreachable in 2 strokes unless you can hit your driver over 320yds. The course isn't cheap, but I consider it worth it, to keep the golf course in premium shape. It was a cart path only day which added about an hour of walking time to my round when my ball was on the opposite side of the course from the cart path. I still finished in 3.5 hours. Without the cart path restriction, I could've finished between 2 and 2.5 hours. Great course! I saw some negative reviews on this page, but I personally didn't experience anything negative. I was greeted upon arrival, taken care of at the starter, and talked to by their staff as i was putting my clubs away. I paid a discounted rate, and it was worth every penny.
Decent for winter conditions
Tees were up, most gold tees were where the whites should be. Overseed is largely taken hold. Several greens had been micropunched, but overall shagginess of greens meant the punches weren't that big of a deal, i.e. they were all a little bumpy and slow.
POP was on slow side, took 4:40 as 4some in front was a hole + behind. Ranger drove by, but instead of putting them on the clock, he spent time helping us look for a ball.
Overall nice layout, very convenient location in Irvine, conditions probably typical for this time of year.
Oak Creek iOverall
Very scenic fun and interesting course overall. Played several times in the past. Unfortunately unless on special just to pricy most of the times.
$69 Great Rate
Great conditions. Course sets up nicely. Had a good round (74). Great and very friendly staff. Wish this price will stay, NOT!!! Just got lucky to find this rate.
At the end, had a great time.
Rude staff
I've never experienced a more nasty correspondence from a starter than in Oak Creek. Obviously, the person they have on hire as a starter doesn't realize that his job is to provide service to PAYING customers and not to give them attitude as if he is doing them a favor to grant them a tee time.
I will never play this course again, simply because this guys's unprofessional and extremely impolite interaction. One should expect a bit more courtesy after paying close to $150 for a round of golf
nice track
I really like the layout. The course has a good combination of open holes and tight holes. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. The greens were OK, slower than normal. My opinion, one of the better public courses in south OC.
Slow pace & bumpy greens
The title says it all. On six holes we waited 1o minutes to tee off. it didn't appear that there was any effort to make the pace of play quicker. The greens were a mess. Some of the Bumpious I've played on in recent memory. No one fixes their divot marks.
Poorly maintained
The greens were very, very slow! The traps were some of the worst I have seen. I do not think they are maintained at all. The overall maintenance was marginal. It is overrated and 4 or 5 times what it is worth (and we were told we got a good deal)? I would not play the course again.
Fun course, great staff
Played on a Sunday, 4 hour round in a foursome. Fairways and greens were in beautiful shape despite drought. Enjoyed layout.
Great Course.
Love the greens and layouts. Golf now has better prices for the course that their actual website. I play Oak Creek two to three times a month and always in great shape and challenging
Nice course, a bit overpriced
For the area, this course is easily in the Top 5. Spectacular condition (access to water) and the layout isn't gimmicky. I played from the white tees as this was my first shot at it, but will move back when I return. Not crazy long, but the layout is a consistent challenge. Greens are fair and could easily slap you if mowed a little tighter. Fairways- perfect. Tee boxes- all levels not crowned, and in good shape. Greens- as I said solid, and we have to continue a collective effort to punch those in throat that do not repair their ball marks. I don't get it. Clubhouse was nice and the Staff was great. It's worth the money, but in my experience, $180 green fees get you a little more than here.
Wide fairways - nice course
Enjoyed the course. The restaurant leaves a lot to be desired - does not have that clubhouse feel and the the employees are not exactly pr material ( indifferent). But again the course is the main focus and it was very nice. Good design,
Great Way to Spend the 4th
Perfect setting for a day of golf on a holiday. Course was in great shape, just better than I am. If you have not played Oak Creek you should.
