Oak Creek Golf Club
About
Oak Creek Golf Course in Irvine boasts a course designed by Tom Fazio, who has been hailed as the best modern-day course architect. The layout features tapered fairways and multi-tiered greens that roll perfectly. Several sparkling lakes dot the lush greens landscape as well as a few mature eucalyptus trees, though the course is mostly open. The bulk of the challenges of this golf course are comprised of the bull-nosed carved bunkers that are strategically placed throughout. Vivid vegetation accentuates the course and the city gets more than 300 days of sunshine a year, providing the perfect setting for a round. Oak Creek Golf Course is also popular for its practice facility, which includes 65 natural turf tees, a nine-acre all-terrain landing area, two putting greens, and a large practice bunker. It is one of the most popular practice facilities in southern California.

Great Layout!
Bunkers were like concrete.....no sand at all!!!!
Great course
Course is very fair and in great shape with one exception the bunkers suck. They need to spend a little money and replenish the sand, it's like hitting off hard pan. With the beaches only a few miles away you'd think this was a no brainier!
Great Couse-Range...except...
Top Notch facility but the addition of loudspeaker music at driving range.... not so much. 'Bad' music at that. Not cool, guys.... not cool. Save it for the nighttime 'date' crowd.
"yet another Tom Fazio master piece"
When you hear Tom Fazio designed courses, you know expectations are high, Oak Creek Country Club did not disappoint me at all. Located in the OC area i was very excited in playing here.Amazing twilight rates for the average golfer and i tell you it was worth it. Tee'd off at around 4:15 pm the pace was good and managed to finish before sunset. I really love this course a lot f of slopes and some water in play, no elevated tee's. The bunkers Wow! pretty deep so for first time players here DO NOT GO IN. One thing i like about a Tom fazio designed course is his fairway layouts, this course has one of the most amazing layouts compared to other OC courses. Fairways were well maintained very green and soft inspite of the Cali weather, suprisingly no dry spots. The greens were incredible, fast at times and just simply green yet another Tom Fazio signature greens. Staff was friendly from pro shop to bag drop off guys and starters, always a plus when you see the cart lady. This was definitely one of my favorite courses to play in the OC area, truly reminds me of a small version of Shadow creek course in Las vegas. I encourage locals and non locals to come check out this wonderful course, you will thank me later on, i guarantee you that!
Wide fairways, lots of room for trouble
This is a very enjoyable course, with wide fairways but also lots of opportunity for trouble (well-placed bunkers, lakes and creeks) if you don't pick the right landing area. Having played dozens of courses in the greater LA area, this is also the only one that has no palm trees anywhere on the course. Lots of large eucalyptus trees that line the fairways, but no palm trees.
Horrible Bunkers
Having played this course many times through the years, I was dismayed by the condition of the bunkers around the greens. Hard, crusty and inconsistent. I am a pretty decent player, but hitting out of hard-pan bunkers with no consistency is not very enjoyable.
For the price that Oak Creek charges, compared to other comparable local courses, this is not acceptable. Spend some of that money and have people return.
just real good golf
Got to play this midweek for $74 through Golfnow, what a deal! Course is in great shape, greens run true and love the design. As a twosome we played through a group and finished in 3 hours even with hitting a few extra shots. Course isn't overly hard but has some difficult holes. Just really good golf course for a great price on this day made for a great experience. I wish i could find it for a more affordable price more often!!
Nice course
Have heard Oak Creek for long time but unable to play it because of rather high price (weekends, $150). I used my reward got from golfnow to play finally! It's a good course. But I have to say it's for people with some extra bucks to spare. The course is not difficult. The layout is OK, straight forward, not much challenges. I'm a 20 plus handy-caper. So I scored 90 easily. The staffs are very friendly, from bag drop, check-in, starters and all other people you met on the course. The amenities are good, too. Eating, drinking and restrooms are well positioned. I saw some people say the course recently is in bad shape. I found that was wrong. Although grass/fairway has some yellowish, on the whole, the course is well maintained. The green is in good shape and they are difficult. I got 6 3-put! Otherwise my score could be better! I enjoy play here and I wish they offer some discount so I can play here more often!
Needs improvement
Irvine Ranch should be ashamed of this facility. Very, very poor conditioning. Fairways are in extraordinarily poor condition. I understand it is winter and a drought, but conditioning is well below minimal acceptable standards .Service very marginal; my cart had 1 sand bottle with no sand/grass seed in it, so could not repair even my own divots. Pace of play was atrocious (3 hours for 9 holes) with no attempt to marshal the course. Bunkers had the usual foot imprints typical of a public course. One positive was greens were very good.
I know there's a drought but c'mon!
Course in the worst shape in years. I know we're in a terrible drought but I've played several SoCal courses that are handling it much, much better. The fairways don't consist of much more than dead, dormant bermuda grass that's been sprayed with green dye. Tons of sections with ground under repair and/or over-seeding. Most of the tee boxes weren't playing to their true area (I played from the blacks and a good majority were relegated to gold/white boxes) I was only in a couple of bunkers (they were just okay), but my playing partners were complaining about the consistency of the sand all day.
I like this layout but unfortunately it's just not worth the price premium until the conditions drastically improve. Hopefully El Ninõ will help!
Xmas golf
Pace of play was pretty slow, especially the back nine. GPS malfunctioned (i.e. Re-booted several times throughout the round and didn't work most of the back nine)...but other than that, well-maintained course
Great course
Oak Creek is a great course, great layout and always in good shape. Challenging but fair. Facilities and course overall are beautiful.
Well kept course, less challenging than I expected
Very nice course and very well maintained. Probably the best maintained course I've played in Orange County. The course itself is not very long and very fair. I was expecting it to be harder. Definitely a fun course to play where you can go low. I will surely play this course again.
Nice place
I played with my son and were paired with a couple from Boston. Very enjoyable day! Nice facility and course maybe a little pricy and play was a little slow. Not sure I would pay a $107 again.
Overpriced!
This is a fun track that's in pretty good shape overall, and if money were no object, I'd play here more. However, there's just too big a disparity between what you pay and what you get. It's just not worth the green fees and there are other courses around that are just as nice for less money.
Oak Creek Golf Club
Course very pleasing to the eye - lots of natural beauty.
Layout of holes works very well - good flow as you play.
Nice clubhouse/pro shop and cafe. Only issue would be $12 charge for a small bag of balls at the practice range to warm up. With cost of round ($100+) would expect range balls to be provided - at least for those with proof of having purchased a round for play.
Otherwise a very pleasant experience and would definitely play the course again.
A nice peaceful round of golf
If you want to play in peace and enjoy a fun, forgiving
but challenging golf course. look no further. I enjoy it and the pace of play and staff are outstanding for me every time we go.
The course was in good shape and pace of play reasonable (4.25 hrs on a Monday).
Definitely would go back to Oak Creek. Get there early to take advantage of the expansive practice facilities. The only small issue was the cart guys were a little hard to find when checking in and finishing (club cleaning, etc...).
Golfers with no clue rule the conditions on greens
Very few golfers are repairing pitch makes on greens. The course would have rated a 4.5 with better enforcement of pitch marks. The fairways were wonderful.
Greens
I have not often played a course in which the majority of golfers don't repair ball marks on the greens. This place is riddled with them and the length of the greens, cup condition and ball marks makes it very difficult to make anything over 2 feet with consistancy
