Oak Creek Golf Club
About
Oak Creek Golf Course in Irvine boasts a course designed by Tom Fazio, who has been hailed as the best modern-day course architect. The layout features tapered fairways and multi-tiered greens that roll perfectly. Several sparkling lakes dot the lush greens landscape as well as a few mature eucalyptus trees, though the course is mostly open. The bulk of the challenges of this golf course are comprised of the bull-nosed carved bunkers that are strategically placed throughout. Vivid vegetation accentuates the course and the city gets more than 300 days of sunshine a year, providing the perfect setting for a round. Oak Creek Golf Course is also popular for its practice facility, which includes 65 natural turf tees, a nine-acre all-terrain landing area, two putting greens, and a large practice bunker. It is one of the most popular practice facilities in southern California.

Friendly service & great course layout.
Liked palying there, but the course was too wet (due to rain from the previous day) so the grass was not in good condition. Regardless the staff was found to be very friendly, so I would go back there when the course condition gets better.
Enjoyable coursw
It was good to see that Oak Creek is doing their part on water conservancy. From tee through green, the couse is in excellent condition. Due to drought, the periphery is dry, but that did not interfere with playability. Greens roll true and fast. All staff was professional and cordial. Course does a great job in monitoring pace of play. We were first out and maintained a 4 hour pace for those behind.
coarse value
Not worth the price, coarse was not in good shape, they need to work on the fairways
Great course for the $$
$64 was a great rate for this course. They used to charge way too much for this course. It is worth under $80
Nice Course
I aways have a good time playing here. Usually it is a rough round though. I keep forgetting that they use bermuda grass on this course. This means that if you want to use a traditional blade with very little bounce you will need to hit the ball first. I was hitting a lot of shots and getting a little of that turf in between the ball. Bermuda is tough tough grass and today it was exceptionally tight as well. So it really decreased my clubhead speed through the ball when I did this and I would almost always be short of the green. I think I hit one green from 125 yards out. p to 3 iron. If you grab grass before the ball on your chips with a blade wedge forget about it. You will have a miserable day. So do yourselve a favor and leave the players irons at home when you come here. Find a set of cavity back irons with a wide sole and lots of bounce. If you are a players iron only guy like myself, my Adams CMB's worked amazing here. But you will need to do a lot of picking the ball off the turf if you want to use a set of MBs. Greens are really slow right now by the way. So bring a mallet.
golfing in sunshine
Found this course on Golf Now. Enjoyed the round, paired up with locals who shared their knowledge of the course. Would definitely recommend this course.
oak creek
I made tee time for 10:10 but when I got to the golf course they said they were closed for the next two days. Would have been good to know. Heard greart things about the course.
Excellent Value
Searching for a solo round Sunday and landed on this gem. Excellent range, pace moderate --> good, cart girl visited us three times, greens tough to read, rough thick, excellent round.
This course has hard, fast greens.
We played on a Thursday afternoon as a threesome. Great weather. No one in front of us and no one pushing us. Almost finished in four hours. Only complaint is that those who played before us were very lackadaisical in repairing their ball marks, and left lots of spike marks around the holes. Golf carts are the tops though. Each one has GPS and yardage to back, middle and front.
Lots of the bad spots
I guess the drought is taking a beating on a lot of orange county golf courses but you would think that a high-end course like this could manage the conditions a little better. Additionally I think the calve high rough around the parameters is a little too much I had a couple of drives the just rolled through fairways and I couldn't find them. The greens were just okay. They rolled fairly true were very marked up. I think it's time to for over seed.
Hot Deal was a good value
The course and greens are in good condition - not browned out like some other courses. The Hot Deal from Golf Now made this a good value and worth the drive for me. The fairways are open and the greens are tricky (undulating with plenty of breaks on the ball. Upscale clubhouse for a public course. I had a Tuna Melt sandwich before the round and it was excellent.
Well worth it!
First time I played this course, I would definitely go back as long as I can get the golf now rate. Back tees were closed due to repairs but that was the only drawback, fairways and greens were in great shape even though the two guys we were paired with said they have seen it better. Driving range and practice facility were first rate and clubhouse is beautiful. Everyone from the pro shop to the driving range were friendly and talkative, BIG PLUS!! I would go back in a minute.
Oak Creek
The course is in great shape, fairways were plush and the greens were in good shape. I got a deal on lastminutegolfer.com for $49 which is the only reason I played this course. I still think the normal green fees are way to high for this place there are other courses in the area in good shape that are much more affordable.
Oak Creek Vs. Black Gold.....at $99.00 A NO BRAINER!!!!
Love playing here but not at their normal excessively high rates. Got a deal on Golf Now for $99.00 and at that price i would ay here often. This course is always in great shape and is a much better track than Black Gold in Yorba Linda.
Way over priced
Played on Thur...pace of play was very good. Never saw a Marshal the whole round. Cart girl came around a lot. As for the course, priced way to high as with most Orange County courses. I was not impressed with this course at all. For $90.00 ouch! A lot of the bunkers had dirt in em' & wet sand. The water around the course had scum in it! Fairways were nice, greens not good for $90.00 a lot of ball marks! The layout was nothing to Brag about! Will I play this course again? Maybe, for half the price! Not a hard course at all...mid to high handicap golfers can enjoy this course if u want to spend the bucks to play!
Course for all level of handicappers..
Just pick the tee boxes to suit your game and enjoy...and to challenge yourself go the maximum..hot summer make more thrill on the back tee.
Perfect Friday
Very fun course, it was wide open on a friday which is nice, the high costs surely keeping some away. If you can find the $99 rate on Golfnow, it's worth it. Anything more I personally don't find the value but it's a good course for sure. $12 for a sm/med'ish bucket is a little steep tho grass range always appreciated.
Mixed conditions
Played at the half off Golf Now rate which is all this course should be charging. Pace of play was good, done in 4 hours on a Monday afternoon. Conditions though were mixed, tees, fairways and greens were good, the rough was spotty and rough but I'm ok with that, after all it is called rough, but the big complaint is the bunkers. Most of the bunkers have absolutely no sand in them, just plain hard packed dirt, and the few that do, it is just a light dusting of sand. No GPS on carts either. It was a fun round but I would not pay full price given current conditions.
Great first experience
First time playing this course. Impressive practice facility and helpful personnel in pro shop and starter. The course is in good shape and the greens are firm and fast. Accuracy off the tee is important with rough and bunkers catching stray tee shots. Many approaches play uphill so take enough club to carry on to the green. Several par 3's play over 200 yards and playing to the correct bailout side is important to avoid a big number. Overall course rating would have been higher but pace of play was slow (almost 5 hours on Sunday afternoon).
great facility all around
had a great 18 holes. Booked as a two ball and was able to play as a two ball. We played behind a three ball and finished exactly as we were supposed to do.
