Oak Creek Golf Course in Irvine boasts a course designed by Tom Fazio, who has been hailed as the best modern-day course architect. The layout features tapered fairways and multi-tiered greens that roll perfectly. Several sparkling lakes dot the lush greens landscape as well as a few mature eucalyptus trees, though the course is mostly open. The bulk of the challenges of this golf course are comprised of the bull-nosed carved bunkers that are strategically placed throughout. Vivid vegetation accentuates the course and the city gets more than 300 days of sunshine a year, providing the perfect setting for a round. Oak Creek Golf Course is also popular for its practice facility, which includes 65 natural turf tees, a nine-acre all-terrain landing area, two putting greens, and a large practice bunker. It is one of the most popular practice facilities in southern California.

Pricey, but better than average conditions.

Played this ahead of an SCGA tournament in a couple of weeks (June 2013). Fairways & greens in good/very good condition. Course is not long (wind speed and direction affect holes differently), but is fairly tight, trouble on the sides and at certain distances, so requires good course management to score well.

Beautiful looking course from all angles.

Relaxed experience with no groups to play into or be played into. Friendly staff, challenging but fun mix of fairways, par 3's, and hazards. Can't wait to go again.

Loved this course...absolutely beautiful!

Since we played for the $79.95 Mother's Day rate, you could not beat the value. The fairways were immaculate and greens large and in great shape. Really enjoyed the look of the course…just beautiful. Traveling the cart path had nice scenery and it was a quick trip from most greens to the next tee box.
The only negative, had to pay $12 for small bag of practice balls. If you paid the rack rate and then had to pay for balls..."You're killing me Larry!"

Good not great

1) Great practice facility but $12 for a small and $17 for a large bucket?! Come on now.
2) Staff is extremely friendly. The cart boy to the pro shop to the starter were all very hospitable.
3) Great GPS on the golf cart.
4) Played in 4 hours even though the carts were on the path.
5) The conditions were good. The fairways were nice. The greens were in good shape. Bunkers were OK.
6) The golf course is nice but nothing spectacular. It is very flat. Not much water. Hazards are mostly bunkers. It perceives itself as a high end "Tom Fazio masterpiece" but there is just no WOW factor.
7) If you can get a good price or twilight rate it is worth playing, but for $150-$175 forget it.

Great twilight value through GolfNow! Country Club-like experience!

We played Oak Creek for the first time this past Sunday afternoon. It was a cool day with the chance of rain, which I think kept some folks away, but it felt like we had the course to ourselves! The course layout, trees and overall condition made it feel like a country club experience for the public. It was a great place that I can't wait to play again!

In addition, the pro shop was great and the practice area among the largest I've seen in the area. I can't wait to go back!

Still one of Orange County's Best Public Courses

Fazio design is fun and challenging although can't figure out whey they have reversed the nines - original order built up to a crescendo after a fairly easy start but now most of the challenging water holes are on the front side rather than the back. Course was in very good shape with some very heavy rough not far off the fairly generous fairways. Greens were smooth and speedy without being overly firm. Staff is friendly and helpful and place of play was very nice. Started at 2:30PM and finished by 6:45PM so afternoon rate of $60 is a bargain if you can tee off by 3:30PM.

Great value for the twilight rate

For the golf now price, this is an awesome course. The facilities are very nice, and the golf course is as well. The course is pretty straightforward. At the same time it's not a really easy course so it's a perfect balance.

Wonderful course in great shape

First time playing this course, and it was wonderful. Fairly forgiving if you hit it astray, but the rough can be quite deep. Sand, greens, fairways, all were in great shape. The same cannot be said for my game.

Oak Creek is a great golf course in Irvine.

I would love to play this course on a regular basis however the green fees are usually out of my price range, even at twilight rates. Finding this course on GolfNow was awesome and I wish they would offer more opportunities to play this course for the fee I paid of $49.00. Regular rates are well over $100.00. I came to find that the green fees were lowered at twilight because the greens had just been punched. No bother though, the course still was challenging and the straighter putts (all the sand on the green) gave me more confidence. The course can be well managed if you relax and play within fairways. Lost balls due to thick rough are common it seemed for the 15+ handicappers in my foursome. Pace of play was terrific, finishing in under 4 hours. The course was in great shape despite the aeration and I would play there much more often if they could lower their rates a tad or offer frequent multi-round discounts for avid players who want to score on this course.

conditions nice, slow play.

Purchased a hot deal on a Thursday, had a cousin in town who is a scratch golfer, my son and best friend and was excited to post a good number. only to find out there was corporate tourney 3 holes in front of us. we caught them pretty fast. some holes there were 2 groups waiting, no marshals. so next time you see a hot deal at a nice course BEWARE, there is a reason. Love the course,a little pricey but common for OC, but I hate slow play. My friends and i will continue to play northern San Diego, courses are just as nice, pace of play is better and $50 to $100 cheaper.

Not as easy as it looks

This is a very seductive golf course. While it looks quite open from the tee get in the wrong place and your approach to the green increases in difficulty. If you hit it straight and long no worries, otherwise danger lurks whether it is sand, water, or just plain yuck. Fairways were dry and firm reflective of lack of rain but greens were well maintained and rolled true and quick. This was a very enjoyable round of golf.

Beautiful and fair like most tom Fazio courses

Layout and conditions were excellent fairway to green. Green speed were a little inconsistent, bumpy and slower than most high end courses this time of year. $12 for warm up balls is completely out of line. Balls should be included at a high end course like this. Cart girl was friendly and came around often. Would have been nice to see a marshall to move things along. the foursome two groups ahead played very slow keeping the group ahead and us waiting constantly. With a decent marshall, it would have been an hour shorter.

Good course, but off season.

Played this course in early March, and it was in good shape for the time of year that it was. Since the course uses Bermuda, it was all dormant, and that caused a few tight lies in the fairway. Overall, a tough course (do NOT go in the bunkers - they are deep with big lips and just where you don't want to be) - but the fairways are generous (even from the golds) and the greens are fast and true. A very good course (what I expect from Fazio), but even with the GolfNow Internet discount, it was a touch pricey for off-season round. But you can see that the course is really beautiful when the grass and trees come in.

Great Deal for a mid week golf round!!!

Course was in good shape, price was fantastic !!! Weather was also perfect. Greens were well manicured and rolled true, fairways were ok, just a bit dry in places due to the current warm weather.

The course was in great shape, but $12 for a small bag of balls, that's ridiculous.

The course was in great shape and we played very quickly. The greens were rolling smooth and quick. I couldn't believe that a small bag of balls cost $12 though. Free range balls should come with your tee time. Especially at a course like this. I feel like customer service is starting to take a back seat to gouging our pockets. How do you expect people to get their kids into golf when a small bag of balls cost $12. Disgusting. I remember when the chipping area was free as well. Very disappointing to see that this is the direction of oc golf. This is why most of my rounds are played in the inland empire.

Fun track

I've played here a few times and will continue to play here. Was in pretty good condition but the greens were really fast. Staff was friendly down to the Romanian girl serving golf lube and the cute girl on the cart putting up with me...Bunkers were really fluffy..hahah. Had a great time and I'd recommend playing here especially if you can find a good deal.
