Oak Creek Golf Club
About
Oak Creek Golf Course in Irvine boasts a course designed by Tom Fazio, who has been hailed as the best modern-day course architect. The layout features tapered fairways and multi-tiered greens that roll perfectly. Several sparkling lakes dot the lush greens landscape as well as a few mature eucalyptus trees, though the course is mostly open. The bulk of the challenges of this golf course are comprised of the bull-nosed carved bunkers that are strategically placed throughout. Vivid vegetation accentuates the course and the city gets more than 300 days of sunshine a year, providing the perfect setting for a round. Oak Creek Golf Course is also popular for its practice facility, which includes 65 natural turf tees, a nine-acre all-terrain landing area, two putting greens, and a large practice bunker. It is one of the most popular practice facilities in southern California.

This course is a must for Fazio fans.
When I got there the staff was very courteous and the starter got us out a half hour earlier. The course conditions were excellent with superb rolling greens. The course is challenging, but very fair.
Had a great time, can't wait to go back.
Good Value
Great course for the price, but I would not pay the normal $130.
The course is too generous for the Ladies!!
On the score card the Ladies' tee(Copper tee) was marked 5621yds, but the actual yardage was less than 4900.
Because of the stroke play between men and women, I was too uncomfortable to win many holes.
Very fun course to play
Played this course while on vacation. It was in good condition. Enjoyed the layout, good variety of holes. Also had excellent staff. A bit pricey compared to other courses, but worth it.
Oak Creek Golf Course
If you can play this course for $80 it is worth it, but paying more than $100 it is not worth it. I usually play here every 3 months (so many great courses to play in Southern California - you have to rotate them!).
I played on 10/28/12 at 2:00 PM. Which, was enough time to finish before sunset. The course had just been punched 3-4 days earlier so the greens were still a little sandy and running at about a 9 (speed).
NORMALLY (which this course will be back in within 2 weeks) this course is in good to very good condition. If you are a long ball hitter you can hit over most of the trouble on the course and take the fairway hazards out of play. There isn't too many holes you should lose balls on and most water hazards are easily avoidable. This course definitely rewards 'smart' play. I.e. Driver, 6 iron, Wedge on par 5s. On the holes without fairway hazards it really doesn't pay to "bomb" your drives because the holes are only 320-370 yards long. I.e. you can bomb it and be 50 yards out or you can hit a normal drive and be 100-125 yards out. There is only 1 long par 4.
I would rate this course about the same as Tijeras Creek, Tustin Ranch, or Monarch Beach. And, should only be played when you can get on for less than $100. Not as nice as Shady Canyon, Big Canyon, or Pelican, but definitely in the Second Tier Category. Preference between quality and value I would rate this course as follows.
Pelican - Outstanding Quality, Good Value
Big Canyon/Shady - Outstanding Quality, Value N/A
Oak Quarry - Very Good Quality, Great Value
Tijeras Creek - Very Good Quality, Great Value
Tustin Ranch - Very Good Quality, Average Value
Oak Creek - Very Good Quality, Average Value
Monarch Beach - Very Good Quality, Average Value
Mission Viejo - Good Quality, Average Value
Mile Square - Average Quality, Great Value
Black Gold - Average Quality, Poor Value
I play once a week (sometimes twice) and play almost every course in Orange County, Palos Verdes, and the I.E. Courses. I give this course an overall rating of B+
Areas for improvement: Pro Shop Staff can be arrogant some times. Would like to see some 'overseeding'. The guys working the starter area are awesome and knowledgeable. Marshall should be seen more often. Not sure if there is a $500 membership for discounted rates (but, would like to see one done by the Irvine Company for their courses). I would absolutely pay $500 to play this course once a month for $80 on weekends and $70 during the week.
Awesome view
Great deal for 37 dollars. They were fixing the course and I didn't expect much playability wise. However, I still enjoyed the course layout and beautiful scenery. I will be coming back here when the greens are completely set and see how well this course can be.
My favorite OC course!
I love the layout fo Oak Creek. It is challenging for golfers of all levels, yet plays fair with open fairways.
This was a good course
I enjoyed this course, great layout, great greens, but was a little rough around the edges. I thought it was overpriced for the condition.
good shots rewarded
followed a tournament so greens alittle rough
wish they were alittle faster, running about 10
nobody racked sand traps
good layout
to many holes no cart
all other things really good
A very good Tom Fazio layout
Of all the courses on Golf NOW in the Irvine CA area I believe this is a good value (at $79.00). Its an interesting layout with some very challenging as well as memorable holes. The conditions are always great.
Nice layout but inconsistent conditions
I really enjoyed the layout of the course. There really isn't a bad hold from that perspective. The day we played, the greens were extremely slow and a little uneven. The fairways were in decent shape. However, just off the fairways, the rough was very spotty. Some places were bare and other places the rough was extremely thick. For the money, this wasn't bad but with a little more work this could be an excellent course.
