Oak Creek Golf Club
About
Oak Creek Golf Course in Irvine boasts a course designed by Tom Fazio, who has been hailed as the best modern-day course architect. The layout features tapered fairways and multi-tiered greens that roll perfectly. Several sparkling lakes dot the lush greens landscape as well as a few mature eucalyptus trees, though the course is mostly open. The bulk of the challenges of this golf course are comprised of the bull-nosed carved bunkers that are strategically placed throughout. Vivid vegetation accentuates the course and the city gets more than 300 days of sunshine a year, providing the perfect setting for a round. Oak Creek Golf Course is also popular for its practice facility, which includes 65 natural turf tees, a nine-acre all-terrain landing area, two putting greens, and a large practice bunker. It is one of the most popular practice facilities in southern California.

Tough Greens!
Played Oak Creek quite a few times and never remember the greens being so fast and difficult. Normally under 32 putts but had 42 yesterday. Course in decent condition and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They currently have a $4 beer special that comes with 3 free wings.
I've seen it in better shape, but it has rained this last week
This course has long and wide fairways. Many of their holes are cart path only. Naturally, the golf gods had me hitting where I was having to do too much walking (for me). You need to be able to do a LOT of walking and be sure to bring enough clubs so as to not have to settle for one you left in the cart.
Good value ... challenging track!
We played this course after playing some of the premium courses in the San Diego area (Torrey Pines, Pelican Hill) and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Seek out a good deal on price and enjoy a great course.
Oak Creek has a very entertaining layout. It certainly has its challenges, but generally there is room for the occasional errant shot (but not always). It's visually pleasing on pretty much every hole, and causes you to think carefully about club selection. It's also very well maintained.
My only gripe would be the headline cost at weekends. It's good, but not $175 worth of value. However, any deal below $100 is worth the money.
Nice layout. Lots of natural habitat that outlines the course. Very enjoyable course
Played on Christmas. Not overly crowded but had to wait on a half dozen holes for group in front. Fairways aren't as green as they would be in summer. Greens were beat up quite a bit, due to discourteous players not fixing ball marks. Duck droppings on a couple greens made it difficult to putt! Very creative course with lots of bends and twists. Tricky greens made putting fair, but challenging.
Didn't like having to pay $12 for a bag of 55 practice balls. $16 for a burger and fries was overpriced as well. Got a $79 rate on the internet which is a good price for this course, especially in the winter.
This course is most great in irvine area
I palyed yesterday in this course. Although raining all in the morning, the fairway is good and green is excellent state.
The lenghth of course is proper to middle-level golfer like me.
However, all par3 hole is extremely long distance, i choose always hybrid not iron.
In conclusion, i and my co-player are satisfied completely.
A nice course, typical of a Fazio design
The course met expectation of a Fazio course. It was nice, playable, not memorable as some courses are. OK value at $69, not at a higher rate.
last min tee time
cart path only, but no one around us. finished in less than 4 hours
Fun course, greens were great
Our pace of play was better than expected-teamed up with two other guests and we all concluded that it was a fun golf course but probably 3.5 star. Without the discount it would have been overpriced-great practice facility but $12 for a small bag of balls is ridiculous it detracted from it
Nice Course but.....
I have played Oak Creek dozens of times. It is a nice Fazio course. Good layout and playable. When I played on Sunday Dec 9 2012 the course reminded me of why I don't play there much anymore. While I didn't pay rack rate myself, the rack rate of $130 weekdays and $175 weekends is way too much as are the rack rates of many Orange County courses.
The big issue I had yesterday were the greens. The greens were very slow, bumpy and not in great shape. There were also an amazingly high number of unfixed ball marks on the green. The greens are just not strong enough to handle the play - kind of chalky. There have been times in the past when the greens were great, but not yesterday.
To charge that kind of money, the course should be pristine.
Great course!
Great course and great services! Very challenging course!
Must experience course!
A Favorite
I always enjoy playing Oak Creek, with it's
wide treelined fairways, well maintained
greens and challenging but fair track.don't
miss it if you get the chance.
Sturdy As An Oak
Very welcoming and accommodating from dropping of the clubs to checking n at the Pro Shop. Starter was helpful and paired us with an individual who plays the course on a regular basis. The course was well maintained but there have been cut backs in staff as there were no rangers to push slow players along. Clubs were cleaned nicely and loaded into the car without being asked. Air hose to clean shoes was a nice touch and the area around it was neat and tidy. Well worth the price and we did not live in Chicago we would play it on a regular basis.
great course especially if you get a great deal.
I was able to play this course for $42 and it was by far the best 42 bucks I ever spent to play golf.
Finally got a good deal
I had played this course many years ago and loved it, but the green fees have always been significantly higher than I could justify. I found a great tee time on Golfnow at a very fair price and immediately snatched it. I really enjoyed the beautiful layout and the feeling of seclusion I felt. It is a really nice place. The views from many of the tees are striking, and the holes are unique. There is plenty of room to drive the ball, but plenty of challenge if you miss the greens. From tee to green the conditions were good for this time of year ... the greens were very good. Customer service was terrific and the pace of play was brisk If you can get a tee time here that doesn't empty your kid's college fund, don't think twice about playing.
Friday afternoon in the rain!
If you are lucky enough to dodge a rain storm in So Cal on a Friday afternoon, this is the course to get to. Playing any OC course on a Friday afternoon in under 4 hours is a treat. Felt like country club golf.....rare day.
This course is beautiful
The course was in excellent condition and I found it to be very challenging. I played on a Tuesday and the course was fairly empty. Pace of play was OK. We caught the group ahead of us a couple of times but the wait was not too bad.
I will definitely play it again.
Love this course
Great location for me!!! Everything you would ever want in a golf course for the price/condition/ and pace of play!
Very good course, well presented.
A good experience. Always enjoy Tom Fazio's work. Course was in very good condition. Fairways were firm and fast. Overseeded rough was a factor and the greens were in good shape. Winter et up was very good.
