Hyde Park Golf Club
About
Hyde Park Golf Club, built in 1925 by Donald Ross, is one of the oldest in Florida. In 1971, the golf course was purchased by former touring professionals Billy Maxwell and Chris Blocker, who have successfully restored it.
Rolling hills, gorgeous Spanish Oaks and towering Southern Pines make Hyde Park a lasting experience. A tour stop for the men's and women's professional golf tours in the 1940s and 1950s, the golf course gained a place in history during the 1947 Jacksonville Open. The great Ben Hogan took an 11 on the par-3 sixth, which became known as "Hogan's Alley." It has a deep-faced bunker to the right and water to the left.
Hyde Park Golf Club measures 6,468 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71, and it has a slope rating of 124.

Great
Fairways and greens were nice. Will def book again!
Sunday Golf in Jacksonville
Hyde Park is in outstanding shape - greens are lush and full - fairways in great shape
We had a set of groups in front of us and the pace of play was fine
You will run into first timers and newbies on this course who may not be aware of golf etiquette - be patient with them
No complaints - great time!
Classic Historic Ross course
There is no better deal anywhere for true value. Classically designed course by Ross in muni setting, rough conditions for winter, but playable. At $25 WITH cart, unbelievable value.
Hyde Park
Course was packed..... Had to pick up a fourth player who made the round just as unpleasant as waiting for the people in front of us to play... I'm also not a fan of their "relaxed" dress code. Jeans should not be allowed on the golf course. I will not be returning anytime soon.
Donald Ross course at a reasonable price
I'm a fan of Donald Ross courses, and I enjoyed this one - quite different from modern Florida courses where lakes have been created - not much water at all. Course was in good, not great shape, but challenging. Staff efficient but not overly friendly. Well worth the (extremely moderate) greens fees.
Caddie Shack Round
Rain started on the 1st hole, slowly at first, but came on strong as we played. Shot a 41 on the front, but had to pick up due to rooster tails coming off our putts on 12 and 13.
Good value for an older course :)
A classic course and layout, needs attention/ upgrades on drainage after rains !
The staff is friendly :), and helpful, bar/ snack area needs to upgrade for credit card usage :(
Overall very nice course to play comparably with courses on WS of Jax.
old school is okay.
If you have never played an old school course this is a good test. Small greens in good shape and high risk reward shots.
Nice Course....not so nice weather
Hyde Park is one of the great old courses around. The premium is on shot making and accuracy. The greens are fantastic...if you like lots of undulation!!! Lots of rain fell in the area the past few days but conditions were still ok for December. Would love to play this course in the spring....
Dog legs and elevated greens.
The greens were in great shape. Many looked and felt like you were walking on carpet. The fairways were in fair condition, but soft in some areas, requiring you to clean and place the ball. The first cut of rough was difficult to play out of, and the cart paths need repair. The Pro and staff were courteous and friendly. Players need to be reminded to place the rakes to the side of the traps away from the direction of play.
tournament
They put a hot deal offer the day they said they knew they had a large tournament. The pace of play was terrible. It took us 4.75 hrs to play and we finished in the dark. Wont be playing there again.
Pleasant surprise
Course is in great shape. Well worth the cost. I would recommend giving it a try
Donald Ross Classic!
What a great Donald Ross design! Best deal in Jacksonville!
Real Challenge, Old School Course
Just played Hyde Park Friday and was pleasantly surprised at what great shape the course was in. Haven't played it in about 3 years and the greens were in better shape than I remember. Recommend it for anyone wanting an inexpensive round that is very challenging!
Fun course
Like 2 dif courses. Front and back totally dif. Was a fun challenging course.
Outing
Great value, pretty easy. Stiff drinks at the turn.
Never again
Unfortunately we had a terrible experience here. the staff should not have let people on the course, it was in terrible shape.
We were there on a Saturday afternoon...the bar and snack bar were both closed by 5p...we just skipped the last nine and left.
Always a great place to play
Hyde Park is one of the best golf courses in north Florida. Designed before invention of golf carts it is a superb walking course (the way golf should be played) with all tee boxes next to the green of the previous hole. There are many and various challenges throughout the entire course from famed Hogan's Alley to the challenging par 5 number 14 hole along the road. You will find the club house to be the way you would expect a golf club to be...old, warm, friendly, with a nice bar for celebrating your round and a grill for your appetite at the turn. You won't be disappointed by your visit to Hyde Park.
Decent Course
Got a pretty good deal for 18 on GolfNow for about $20. Course itself is in pretty good shape it seemed. Looked like they had sanded the greens a week or 2 ago so can't really comment on that. Would play a again.
Nice course for the price
Nice course was a little wet with all the rain we've had but not to bad. A few of the greens had bare spots but overall in good condition
