Hyde Park Golf Club
About
Hyde Park Golf Club, built in 1925 by Donald Ross, is one of the oldest in Florida. In 1971, the golf course was purchased by former touring professionals Billy Maxwell and Chris Blocker, who have successfully restored it.
Rolling hills, gorgeous Spanish Oaks and towering Southern Pines make Hyde Park a lasting experience. A tour stop for the men's and women's professional golf tours in the 1940s and 1950s, the golf course gained a place in history during the 1947 Jacksonville Open. The great Ben Hogan took an 11 on the par-3 sixth, which became known as "Hogan's Alley." It has a deep-faced bunker to the right and water to the left.
Hyde Park Golf Club measures 6,468 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71, and it has a slope rating of 124.

Definitely a very good deal.
The course is in pretty decent shape, with the greens especially nice. A couple of tee boxes could use some work. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.
Underrated
What a nice course this is, layout is interesting and in pretty good shape. The greens are good and it's a great value. Unfortunately, I don't live nearby and this is only my second time playing there and again was pleasantly surprised. The staff I met, ranger. Rick on the course and Tom in the pro shop were terrific too.
Ok course
Fun place to play. Pace of play was not good I don’t always feel like that’s the courses fault but the ranger was out and never went up to the group that was holding everyone back. I will most likely play here again I hope that’s not a normal thing.
Great conditions
The course was in great condition. It didn’t appear busy, but the pace was slow. Once the club house is done, it will be great place to hangout.
Great Layout, very poor conditions or management.
Course layout has lots of potential however tee boxes were bare, fairways were patchy, greens were bumpy and super slow, then there’s the 5 hour round…
Inconsistent Greens
I’ve read mixed reviews and was optimistic to play this for the first time. I will not be going back. I read the greens were in great shape and great value but I would disagree. They were not that great and some were fast while others slow. Course conditions are well below average for this time of year and price point. I’d look elsewhere.
Staff is the best part of this course
Leaving this review just due to the fact that I have left my range finder at many courses and have never had the course call me and let me know they found it like Hyde did! This course is not to close to where I live but I will be back plenty of times now because of this. Course was in perfect condition and Hyde seriously has some of the best greens in this area at the moment.
just ok
Regular golf course, nothing special, a lot of Contruction happening, so maybe the upgrade will make this place special,
**Two port-a potty's one on each nine,
Great course
First time playing this course and really liked it. Good layout. Friendly staff. The clubhouse was under construction which was too bad. Would have liked to sit and gave a beverage after our round.
Good value round
If there was a fully functional clubhouse, this would be a 5 star value. The course isn’t pristine but for what you are paying it’s an excellent value round. The range is sub-optimal due to the golf balls used and pricing, but at least there is one. Green speeds aren’t necessarily quick, yet there is a decent amount of undulation so that’s a bonus. Will be playing it again.
A historic course
Good layout, tough greens good condition for the season. And the history.
Was ok
There were no amenities. Course was in ok condition. Good course to work on your game, but its definitely not a top tier course.
Work in progress
You're trying to make the course better the people in the Pro Shop are unprofessional they are truly horrible not friendly at all in time with the work they're putting in will be another beautiful place to play
