Played Heathland as our 2nd course of the 3 courses at Legends. Pretty open layout and course was in very good condition. Ranger at 1st hole told us to keep up with group in front of us to keep place of play going. Accomplished this by end of Hole 1 and then it was pretty much backed up all day. Took over 4 1/2 hours to play, but our worst pace of play was still to come the next day at Parkland. Just way too many people going off, every 8 minutes. Come on guys, we have to space these out more. Waiting to hit every 6-7 minutes on every shot is not a fun experience no matter how good the course.
Come Early
The Legends still has the quaint idea that players like to walk to the driving range, and then to the putting green. So come early to give yourself enough time to warm up. The greens had been recently aerated so not in good shape today. Wait at least two more weeks before playing.
The staff was uncharacteristically grumpy today. The pace of play was slower than the usual, partially due to wet conditions and cart path only.
Driving range mats should have been replaced some time ago.
Still like the layout at Heathland.
Terrible Pace of Play
Beautiful course and challenging. Unfortunately when we turned the bend, hole 10 was backed up and had 3 groups on it. It took us 1 hr to play 10, 11, 12. Pace of play from that point on was miserable and although rangers drove by they did nothing to help accelerate pass of play. Seems like people had pkg deals and "all" day with no sense of pace of play or they added people off back 9.
Either way, what was a beautiful course turned into a very frustrating experience.
Nice course but pace of play was slow
Everything about the course was very good except the pace of play. When we arrived, the bag drop area was packed - golfers everywhere. Not sure if there was an outing; we started on 10th hole, and we waited to tee off every hole on first 9 holes; back nine was a little better. Some holes two groups were waiting on the tee.
Late start
45 minute late start. They ran out of carts. Frustrating!
Enjoyable round at a good course. Reasonably forgiving of the tee, few forced carries, greens true and in good shape. Course crowded, 4.5 hour round with a 3some in front of us. Breakfast, lunch and 2 drinks included in price.
Wide open layout
This course is among three at the legends resort. Heathland being the most wide open, it didn't disappoint. Very generous fairways with nice turf. The rough was a little penal, as it should be. Bunkers were average size, but deep. The greens were undulating and large. The key here is to hit the proper spot avoiding the huge slopes if possible. The pin placements on the day I played were a little diabolical, a few sitting directly on the side of a slope. Not a good choice by the setup crew, but that's golf!
On a side note, if you prefer craft beers on or after your round, thus is NOT the spot. The old stand by brews are all they have, so light beer drinkers rejoice!
Overall, I would recommend a trip to the Legends facility.
