River Oaks Golf Club
About
River Oaks Golf Club stretches across more than 800 scenic acres along the Intracoastal Waterway. The Course begins with the shortest of the three nines and finishes with the longest. The final hole on the front nine presents one of the most interesting risk-reward opportunities on the golf course. You can aim for the right bunker for an open shot at the green or try a long drive down the left side for a short approach. River Oaks Golf Clubs' Otter nine has several challenges in store including mounding, strategically placed bunkers, and tricky water hazards.

Very enjoyable round of golf
Down in Myrtle Beach for a few days with my son and his family. We were authorized one round of golf so I spent some time looking into venues on GolfNow and a couple other websites. This course was relatively close to where we were staying and had decent reviews. We arrived and we were cordially greeted, set up on our carts and given a good overview of what to expect. After letting a single play through our round was nice. Pace of play was fast (we got around in 3 1/2 hours) and the course was challenging but not punitive. Conditions were good with the exception of a couple greens that had been recently sodded and had not blended in yet. After the round we had a beer on the quiet back deck before heading out.
Average course, not great
Greens were real slow. Sand traps not groomed with standing water. From Utah and used to a different kind of grass, will have to adjust.
Golfing time
This was my 2nd time playing this course and I enjoyed it better than the 1st time. Will be bringing the fellows back the next time we come back to SC.
Challenging and fun
This course has three separate venues but only Fox and Otter were in use. It was very hot and humid both days I played, and the pace was exceedingly slow. This is a lovely course normally, but the rough and even part of the fairways were crowded with dried duck and geese poop. You could hardly hit your ball. I did not complete my second round due to the heat and slow pace, thereby just missing being caught in the torrential rains. The staff here are wonderful. They even gave us ice on the course. The only real problem is the absence of portapotties or restrooms other than the third hole (when one is unlikely to need them).
Will Go Back
Beautiful course, incredibly friendly staff from beginning to end very playable course for a occasional golfer(1-2 times a month). The course itself was in great shape and the price was just as good. Will be back!
A fun round
Had a single tee time and was paired up with two other singles to make a threesome. Pace of play was awesome, finished our round in 4 hours. Fairways were in decent shape, rough was well maintained but the greens and tee boxes could use a little TLC. Overall, even though I lost a few balls, it was still an enjoyable round and I would recommend this course to a low, mid or high handicap.
