River Oaks Golf Club stretches across more than 800 scenic acres along the Intracoastal Waterway. The Course begins with the shortest of the three nines and finishes with the longest. The final hole on the front nine presents one of the most interesting risk-reward opportunities on the golf course. You can aim for the right bunker for an open shot at the green or try a long drive down the left side for a short approach. River Oaks Golf Clubs' Otter nine has several challenges in store including mounding, strategically placed bunkers, and tricky water hazards.

A deteriorating course

Course reflects below average ground maintenance. Greens were fair. Overbooked and overcrowded.

Significant deterioration since down from 27 to 18 holes.

How fast do we need to play

Ranger came to our foursome on the 7th tee and said we had 32 minutes to play 7,8,and 9. Interesting that we players 1-6 in 1 hour 28 minutes. Said hurry up or get jammed up because they double booked tee times. I know they had their holiday party. Hope they gave that ranger some brains for his be present. We played the front in1:56 and the round in 4:05. Perhaps they should invest in rocket powered golf carts if they would like faster play. Love the course, perhaps in was a missed communication.

Very slow on carpet like greens

Over booked course , waiting on hitting ever shot. Players behind us hitting into us as we waited on the foursome ahead of us. Told course marshal and was told he would take care of it. Two holes later they were hitting into us again. Course had sold one of their nines. The starting nine holes were on a nine that I hadn’t played before. Scorecard did not have a hole layout or at the tee markers. No idea how how to play the hole, caused much trouble by hitting into unknown water or wrong side of the fairway. Greens on the first nine “Otter” were like a ruff carpet.

Will not be playing this course again.

Great layout. Fun, friendly place to play

On vacation in Myrtle Beach, the wife and I love golfing. She has only played a few years so sometimes scary going to new courses. This course was very accommodating and my wife very much enjoyed the course. You couldn’t ask for friendly staff. Including bag drop, pro shop, bar, starter and Marshall. Kudos!!!
