Golfer Reviews
Pleasant Surprise
First time playing this course, and found it to be a pleasant surprise. For a municipal course it was in good condition. A few tee boxes needed some help and a couple of fairways need some help as well, but this time of year almost every course has some issues due to weather and heat. Every staff member I came in contact with was very friendly and extremely eager to offer assistance. For the price I highly recommend this course.
Horrible experience with staff
Our group of four beginners played a 9-hole round after being told we could play until 8:00 PM. We started around 5:00 PM and played a scramble format to help keep pace.
Despite this, the ranger/manager repeatedly approached us throughout the round telling us to hurry up, often in a passive-aggressive tone and making comments about wanting to go home. This made the experience stressful and uncomfortable, especially as beginners who were actively trying to keep up pace.
What was most frustrating is that we finished within the timeframe we were originally given, yet still felt pressured the entire round. Clear expectations weren’t communicated in advance, and the repeated interruptions made it difficult to enjoy the game.
While the course itself was fine, the customer service from the ranger significantly impacted our experience, and it unfortunately made us not want to return.
Rude Staff
We were the last group out on the day (nobody behind us) and told to wrap up our 9 holes by 8:00. We were interrupted no fewer than 5 times by a staff member in a golf cart telling us to hurry up. At one point, he blatantly threatened that if we didn't finish by 7:00, he would force us to finish. We finished the round at 7:50, and he made a rude comment on cart drop-off. He single handedly guaranteed that Whispering Pines will never see our business again
Great course, great value.
Greens were not punched and were in great shape.Fun challenging course. Can't beat the price.
great course
Course was in great condition even with the rain. Greens ran thue. Would recommend this course to everyone
Good course, aweful staff
From the moment we checked in my wife and I felt like we were a burden to the staff and unwanted. With a 4pm tee time and an open time sheet, we were questioned immediately if we’re were going to finish on time. We played 18 in 3 1/2 hours.
The starter when Mer was only concerned when he was going to get the cart back, and warned us “ we’ll come get the cart at 8pm regardless of if your done or not” After 9 holes, there were no amenities open to pick up food or refreshments at 530pm. After we teed off on 10, the starter chased us down and told us that the pros hop guy said we’re we’re only playing 9. We corrected him, and reminded him that we in fact paid for 18, and that he collected our receipt before starting our round!
The course was in ok shape, due to the lack of rain. Loved the layout. $45 for rentals was a steeep price to pay, we were unable to bring our own clubs for the family trip. Rental clubs were dirty when given to us. Ridiculous when paying for rentals.
The staff need to be more welcoming and friendly
No Marshall
Waited amd waited on 9 2 groups waiting on t box when I pulled up skipped it and went to the clubhouse they issued a raincheck but I doubt I will go back
wouldn't play again
Course staff was very rude. Pro shop staff and snack bar staff were not friendly or very helpful. Ranger told us we were 20 minutes behind after two holes, and group was a hole and a half in front of us, when we got to next tee, the group had just finished teeing off. Our pace of play was 4:20, just five minutes off their recommended time.
Great Course!
Return trip and got paired with some nice fellows. Greens must have been replaced, in good condition. Scored well, great company and overall great experience!
Now City Owned
Whispering Pines is the former Air Force Base course. Looks like they had a bad spell course wise, but it's coming back. It's a nice layout with challenges on most holes (sand, water and slopes). Played longer tees than I normally do and netted 4 over par with a few penalties. Very enjoyable!
Fun experience
First time playing the course. Nice design and the green rolled true a little on the slow side. Some of the tee boxes were a little rough but acceptable. Got hit with an unforcasted down poor so I was only able to play 14 holes. Will need to play again the next time I am in the area.
Fair value
The course layout was nice, but was not in great condition
