Nice course but needs repairs
Course was in decent condition but first four greens were in rough and bumpy shape. Apparently the course will be closed later in year to redo greens and other areas.
Worst greens ever
The practice green was in horrible shape but, the greens on the course got better as we got closer to the 18th green
Greens
The greens were pretty bad fairways were nice and we had a bunch of slow players in front of us and players behind us hitting up on us knowing full well that we had to wait almost every shot. It got pretty frustrating after a few holes with slow players and then getting hit up on constantly.
A little over priced for what you get
The course itself is very nice. Greens were a little rough (.maybe it was the time of year) and thus your putting score was not true. I would love to see a Marshal out on course, we were behind a slow group and just maybe with a gentle reminder they could have picked up the pace. We payed a very reasonable amount through Golf Now however I do feel Whispering Pines is a little over priced for what you receive in terms of value you get on the course. Location is great if in south Myrtle.
Awful greens
Upon arrival we checked in at the Pro Shop which appeared moderately stocked. Check in went seamlessly. Once outside we were greeted by the starter who was very friendly at which time we were informed about the condition of the greens. The starter told us that the greens were damaged after an u expected and rare snowfall in January. Apparently the grass on the greens was killed and a weed grew in its place. The starter indicated that 4 of 18 greens were affected but we found every green to be in very poor shape. This would have been nice to know when booking the round as it was prepaid so we had no chance of cancelling and getting our money back.
Most of the fairways were not much better as many had bare patches. This course could use some TLC and the price should reflect its current condition.
I would not recommend playing until some care has been provided to the greens and the fairways.
Golfing 101
Greens first 10 holes were unacceptable, rest were better
This course is a solid month away from being below average
The course was in terrible shape. The greens were despicable. The staff was not friendly the two men that were the starters were unacceptably rude. After you put your golf bag in the holding location if you dare go touch it the starter acts like he owned it. Be careful this course is overbooked and getting a refund is like pulling teeth.
Spend the extra 35 bucks and go play a different course
Deceptive business practices .
We booked online. After arriving to the chore and paying through the pro shop. The arrogant starter, who thought he owned our golf bags after we placed them in the holder informed us that there was no way that we were going to get 18 in as they had almost every cart on the course and that the pro shop should know this. It was a fight to get refunded. I know math is hard but refund the 18 and charge for nine problem solved.
We played nine holes. It was in absolutely horrible shape. It looked like they were taking out every tree on the property. The greens were like putting on a bit of weeds place somewhere else. The day after playing this we played Long Bay for about $35 more and it was absolutely amazing. I was so disappointed as I remember playing this several years ago and having my best round of the year there.
