Greens
The overall course wasn’t too bad but the greens were very rough, buppy and bear
Early in the year Greens very bumpy!
Fairways OK Tee blocks nice . Back 9 greens better than the front nine . Over all not bad for early start iin the year ! Staff excellent ..Thanks for squeezing us in after missing our start time!!!
Not worth the money
Greens are unplayable. Lots of on course mice. Would not honor last year's tokens for range balls
Greens in poor shape
All the greens are in poor shape, uneven grass , bumpy and lots of damage.
Disappointed
We had been recommended this course by many and we’re looking forward to playing. First off this course is under construction and the greens are in horrible shape. Don’t expect any good rolling putts. The only positive thing is that most fairways are in decent shape as are the tee boxes. Some of the fairways are torn up as they’re putting in a new arrogation system. For the price we paid I suggest golfing elsewhere as we played 3 other courses in the area which were in much better condition and the greens were in excellent shape. They should advise on their web site working on course and provide a discount. Once the greens are repaired and construction done we will try again.
Not good…..
Fairway and Green were in such a mess. There were no grasses on the green, but there were lots of digs. So when I putted, the ball bounced and rolled
Ok course
Fairways were okay, but greens wet not good. Ball would bounce along as you putted.
Good value
Besides the greens being a bit shaggy, all in all a great place to play. Expected conditions for the middle of February.
Fun in the Sun
We had fun. The greens were a little rough. Ball bounce is lot when putting. I still would play it again if I had time.
Challenging course but in the middle of renovations
Staff was super friendly. Our foursome caught up to the foursome head of us by hole 10 through 16 slow play They quit after #16.. it happens, but still frustrating. This course (as we were warned by starter;) is under major overhaul. My personal opinion, they should shut the course down until course is complete. They are cutting down possibly 100 pine trees to redo fairways and greens. They were running a trencher sometimes down the middle of a fairway (for irrigation) with mounds of dirt along the way.. The greens need work, but just about all courses we've played this Winter are having problems after the snow in January. I would recommend to a friend after renovations are complete.
Would have been nice to know that they were installing waterlines and sprinkler heads everywhere. Also Alll the greens had poa annua weeds so you couldn't get a clean bounceless putt. I'm sure once they finish with the installation the course will be very good.
Mixed feelings
This was my first time playing a MB course in winter so maybe my expectations were too high. However I found more cons than pros here. Staff was friendly, but maybe a bit too talkative, as I found myself waiting several minutes to check in and get my cart while they blathered on with someone. Grass on the driving range was tough to find and the balls were ancient. I liked the course layout overall, but there were a couple of annoyingly wonky holes. Grass on the fairways green but very thin. The greens were super bumpy. They also have an irrigation project going on with things torn up on nearly every hole, but that didn’t really impact play too much. The best pro was the price, only $33 with a Hot Deal on GolfNow.
This course is under going major repairs
New sprinkler system is being installed, so fairways and green side areas are dug up.
Green were in poor shape, lots of dormant grass making them inconsistent and bumpy.
Trip haven't been racked in weeks.
Lots of tree removal going on.
This course is fun to play
We have played this course several times over the years and have always enjoyed the experience. On this occasion we started on the back nine and all was good. When we made the turn however we were very disappointed by the condition of the greens as it was impossible to get a good roll without having the putt bounce over sparse and uneven surfaces. Regardless we enjoyed Whispering Pines and hopefully the condition of the greens is temporary and will improve soon.
Should be a nice tract when the work is done
The course is undergoing some major work. Several trees have been cut down, several of the fairways on the back 9 have ditch scars and broken sod, and a few workers and machinery are present. I think this should have been disclosed to me before I committed to the reservation. And, I would think the green fees should be reduced as well. Finally, the greens were covered with poa annua grass.
