Diamondback Golf Course
About
The 18-hole Diamondback Golf Course (previously known as Diamond Back at Woodland Valley Country Club) in Loris, SC is a Sunday Ultra Dwarf Bermuda golf course that opened in 1999. Diamondback Golf Course was designed by Russell Breeden. The greens are Sunday Ultra Dwarf Bermuda and the fairways are bermuda.
This modern Russell Breeden design is surrounded by unspoiled natural wetlands and lowcountry forest. Diamondback Golf Course is the first course on the Grand Strand to offer Sunday Ultra Dwarf Bermuda greens. Strategically placed bunkers and lakes allow for a challenging round of golf that will make you return year after year

Tight Fairways
Course was nice. Greens were very nice. Fairways were tight in places. Overall a good round. It was cool and windy during play.
It's not the Length of the course.
It's the Width of it. Bring your straight swing. It's Not a Bombers course. Placement is a premium.
Layout is tricky. A Lot of hidden trouble.
Greens roll quick and true.
Even though my this course eats my Lunch every round, I respect what it makes me do and I keep coming back. When I accomplish a good hole here, I know I had earned it.
Great tour. Great people.

Course was in good shape. Greens were fast. Even after a 45 minute frost delay, we teed off on time. Pace was slow due to 2 foursomes with no etiquette. A ranger should have moved them along.
Hidden gem
Cart path only so course was sparse with golfers. Me and a buddy played slow and didn’t see a soul until the 5th hole. Considering the rain and snow course was in great condition. Greens were very fast . Great round!
Make Golf Gr8t Again
Not a bad golf course, greens were exceptionally fast!!!
Better conditions than design
Both its remote location and idiosyncratic design will always keep Diamondback in the bottom third of Myrtle Beach golf courses, in my opinion. Most holes are narrow and tricky while others are downright awkward. If you can drive it on a string you can have a good day, but the rest of us need to pack a couple of extra golf balls and our most patient frames of mind to have the best of times here. Still, the log cabin-style clubhouse and solid practice facilities, plus nice conditions, raise its floor somewhat. I played it because it was one of the courses I was assigned to play in the 2025 Myrtle Beach World Am. It would be tough to imagine playing it again outside of a similar circumstance, but your mileage (all the way out Highway 9 to Loris) may vary.
It took 3 1/2 hours to play 11 holes. I left are 11. Good condition though.
Bring extra Balls !
Unless you’re in the fairway, plan on losing your ball in the first cut.
Greens were in excellent shape and the fairways were not burnt out like many other MB courses.
Great value for your money and worth a 30 minute drive from North Myrtle
Great course, slow play
The course was well maintained, biggest issue arose on hole 7 when my group of two was waiting for the group of 4 ahead. Waited until hole 10 after the turn to play through was advised no, there was a group of 3 ahead of them. 🙄. Called clubhouse and they advised they would send someone out, guy advised that in 15minutes the pace of play would speed up. Found out that the players ahead were members, so It did not 3 hrs for 9 holes and constant wait, I didn’t buy enough alcohol for the round.
The female behind the bar was very polite, best asset to the course.
Needs a Marshall to help pace of play
Staff just average. The clubhouse is nondescript, accessible only via very steep stairs or very, very long handicap ramp. The course layout was good with a nice variety of holes. The fairways and greens were well grassed and maintained. Green speed was approximately 8 stimp. The bunkers could use more sand and better grooming -- footprints everywhere. The bermuda grass was too long and thin, allowing balls to drop completely out of sight. We lost several balls even when we could see where the balls had landed. Course signage is inadequate. The pace of play was extremely slow, with several foursomes ahead of us even at non-peak playing time. There was never a Marshall on the course to help pace of play. There are no water stations and no restrooms on the course.
