About
Rivers Edge Golf Club is a salute to Shallotte (pronounced sha-loot), a beautifully laid-out stunner along the banks of the Shallotte River and the surrounding marshes, at the northern tip of the Grand Strand. Just don't let your friends coerce you into being Macho Man and play it from the back tees if you're a mid- to high-handicapper.
The slope rating is 149 from the tips, one of the highest in the low country, and will throw 10 forced carries at you, either off the tee, to the green, or both. If you fit the above description and try it from the backs, you'll end up tired and frustrated with a scorecard either bloated or unreliable.
A description of Rivers Edge wouldn't be complete without mentioning No. 9, a 570-yard par-5. You can get in trouble if you're long off the tee, in that the second half of the fairway rolls downhill to the marsh. However, if you're short off the tee, you'll be looking at either laying up well to the right of the green, where you will still be in marsh-danger if you venture too far left or are short, or trying to carry a broad expanse of marsh to reach the green, which juts out precariously into the marsh.

Awesome layout
Simply the best golf course around. The holes along the Shallotte river are breathtaking. Will certainly play this course again.
Best layout
I’ve played here three times and the conditions have gotten better with every visit. The greens roll true but were fairly soft and slow. Fairways were wet in spots but over all in great condition. Most all tee boxes aside from one or two of them were great. The layout is the best by far and always a great time.
Love it
Played this course twice in the last year. Absolutely love it. Fairways are like carpet, greens are good and true. Practice area is nice. Incredible views and it has some great holes and layouts. A few of the tee boxes were just okay but most were great. Absolutely a must play in the area. Don’t see another course around being any better. Highly recommend.
Lots of Fun
Fun and challenging course. Clubhouse staff were very friendly, course in great shape

Great conditions with a challenging layout. Senic, with many holes along shallote tidal Marsh.
Some fun holes
Greens were a disappointment for such a highly rated course. Bumpy and slow. Some holes were really neat and quite difficult. Not an easy track for below average golfers.
Lovely layout to play
I had the most fun with my before unknown playing partners today. It was a bit damp in spots but I loved the layout. The 9th hole is something.

Nice Course
Course was challenging, LLLLONG rides between 10th and 11th hole, carts were in good shape with GPS and USB slots.
Beautiful Course
This is a most play course, beautiful lay out, great scenery, good shape, what more is there to say oh yes and friendly staff
A Must Play
I've played this course many times and everytime I bring friends they just love the layout
Soggy Bog
The course is wet, did I mention wet? The ground was saturated from tee to green. I live in the area but we haven't had rain in a number of days so I don't know what was going on. Only six holes were "cart path only" and that was a plus. The greens were in great shape but very slow....spongy almost.
Great layout
Good fairways tees and greens on scale of-10 7. Layout is great can be tricky if you don’t know the course but fun to play. Highly recommend. One par 3 had artificial mat to hit from, I didn’t like that. GPS in cart a big plus.
Great layout
This is a great piece of property and layout. Very challenging even from white tees. Wet conditions limited roll and bounce around greens. Sand traps were a little thin but otherwise greens in good conditions for the season It was a challenge for a 17 handicapper and you will lose a few balls. Just carry a few mulligans with you.
Loved it
Played their 2x this week tough course if you don’t know layout even though they have GPS on cart witch is great. I played much better 2nd time. One of best tracks I have played. Highly recommend
Loved it
Played modified alternate shot in the fall classic. Great variety of holes made for numerous risk reward decisions. Finished with 4th best score for the day.! Very happy with par on #9 with peninsula green. Given the opportunity would play it again anytime.
Great course
It had been a while since I played Rivers Edge and I had forgotten how good this course is. Really good layout and it was in perfect condition. The greens are moderately fast, but true. My favorite hole is number 9. What a brute, but what a fun hole to play and beautiful on top of that. I will be back sooner than later.
Bring many balls
Number 9 is crazy hard in the wind. Many nice holes. Not sure why there are mats instead of tee boxes on the par 3 on the back. I like the GPS on the carts.
