I had the privilege of playing Bear’s Best for the first time in 2003, a couple of years after it opened when I moved to Vegas. Back then you were required to have a fore caddy and the greens were slick, firm and true - almost too fast, but oh what a delight the course was in its new and pristine condition. I give the course an annual visit most years, when I can get a local’s discount, but even then juice just isn’t worth the squeeze when you factor the fee vs the shape of the course. Each year it gets closer and closer to what you expect at a municipal course - like the time I forgot to grab a $45 box of brand new Titleist balls in my cart basket at the cart return, and when I got to my car and remembered that I had left them, I went back to the cart attendant and he said they couldn’t find them...

Maybe my memory of the “Golden Bear era” shades my view of its current conditions, but I feel like they are charging golden era green fees in a municipal era...

A very well maintained course with excellent variety of holes. The only hitch was my gps was faulty adding 20 yards to every shot and didnt realize it until 8th hole. switched carts at turn and shot much better on back nine. Cool cousre and I would highly recommend it

This is an amazing course. It has a completely different feel than any other. You can tell the design was pieced together from different courses. It all fir so well together. The only thing I would change is better policing of the geese and their fecal matter. It was an issue on multiple holes. I would love to play it again when I'm back in town.

One of the best courses in Nevada. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are immaculate. The staff is friendly and professional. And the views of the strip and mountains are spectacular.

The course was in very good shape, greens were rolling nice, tough to read overall happy golfer.

A must to do list when you are in Las Vegas

Course layout is amazing and is best complemented with the architectural elite of who is who , you will definitely enjoy the homes surrounding the golf course , if you happen to be an architect , an engineer or a designer , you are for a treat , if you are neither you will have the most fun on the course

Playing signature Nicklaus holes all combined in one course is rare - black sand traps? Yes of course if you play Bear’s Best

Always try to play this gem every time we are in Vegas and highly recommend it

This was the 5th year that Bears Best has hosted the same charity tournament and I really must compliment JC and his tournament staff for their attentiveness to the needs of all players (as compared to a previous year when we were left with the impression that they would like us gone as soon as possible to the point where we felt rushed;

If there is a shortcoming it’s in Bears Best to properly score a Peoria Handicap.

In terms of course conditions and set up, my only comment was that when compared to other courses in the Las Vegas area, the greens, while smooth, were on the slow side.

Overall I’d rate it as 4+ out of 5

Had the pleasure to play with some members who helped me around the course. I would call this a 'target shooting" course. Great layout and awesome views.

Nice selection of different type holes from famous courses

The course was exciting to play. Loved the design of the best 18. The holes were all described with the reason for the name. Would play this course everyday.

We had a 1:10 t-time which during mid November is OK for 16 holes. We did 18 but the last two were quite dark. The pace was 4:20 overall.. Conditions were very good. Staff are friendly. I gave 4* for value because although we got a good deal for the golf via GolfNow, a beer was $9 which seems a bit steep.. I rated 4* for pace because I think starters should make recommendations on proper tee's for people to play based on handicap. I am a 10 and played to Green at 6628. You see guys out there playing those tee's, or even the 7200 yard tees that should never be back there. Move up and stop looking for your ball on every hole.

Fun and challenging golf course! Everything is lush and green, the greens run true. Take your camera because there are some spectacular views of the mountains and overlooking the city.

The carts have GPS and Jack Nicklaus video describing each hole, which is pretty cool.

Only downside was pace of play, we didn’t see a marshal until #16, at that point there wasn’t much he could do. It was about 20 minutes behind pace, so not too bad. I’ll definitely be back to this great course!

The course was in outstanding condition. It was very challenging, but the views of the Las Vegas valley and course layout were epic.0

This is a bucket list of 18 of Jack’s favorite holes. Course was in great shape. Bring your clubs the next time you hit Vegas and come knock this course off the bucket list.
