Bears (the) Best
Great course in rear shape. Challenging and rewarding
GREAT COURSE
Staff was great - they were able to get us out almost an hour early - which was the difference in finishing or not - The last hole was almost too dark - but we got it in. The problem was the pace of play - we waited on every shot - the people in front of us only started picking up the pace when the sun went behind the mountain. There should be a marshal out there to keep the slower groups moving.
Great place
As always this course is in great shape and the staff is top notch! The only complaint is they had a tournament which had a seven-some playing. That was not cool, but we finally played through.
Wonderfully maintained course tough test some of the holes were quite long but one of the best I've played in Vegas. 4 handicap
Enjoyed playing but ran out of daylight. Fairly slow play so never got the last few holes in and 18 is a very fun hole so that was disappointing.
Course had 2 tournaments going early in the morning so totally Booked.
We found other courses in the area that were less expensive and just as challenging and in great shape.
Beautiful scenery and variety of chalanges
We have a group going to Vegas in January and play golf at many courses and Bear's Best is one of our favorites! Even tho course conditions are not ideal in January Bear's Best is always top quality of all of them we play at!
A good challenge
I have been playing Bear's Best for years so maybe I am biased, but of all the courses I have played multiple times over the years, this is tops. I went out at 9:50 with a couple visiting from Denver and we finished a couple of minutes under four hours.
The course gets a lot of play from people who seem not to care. Often I find bunkers not raked and ball marks not fixed, but the staff is first rate, the holes are a challenge, and seeing holes from different courses fun, particularly if you have played the original hold.
What Customer Service?
I played in charity tournament with a shotgun start and found the staff rather rude. When it came to scoring a Perioria handicap, the staff didn’t have the faintest idea(having botched it 3 years running) and refused help when someone actually had it with them. The staff as much admitted that their goal was to get the tournament off the premises as quickly as possible for a wedding scheduled immediately following.
Having played the course a number of times, I would call the conditioning mediocre at best. Overall, very poor value.
expensive for conditions
the driving range pads were terrible. the grass on tee boxes were not cut and very long. some damage to the greens. it was a nice course and clubhouse, but not for that amount of money
A Challenge
Three of us golfed at Bear’s Best, teeing off at noon for around $107 (golf now). The 85 degrees was no problem but the sand traps surrounding most greens were! Unfortunately we were greatly slowed by a foursome who never acknowledged us and, when we finally asked to play through, acted like they were offended. Only saw the Marshall once.
Bad experience
Played in the afternoon behind groups of 5 players which caused for a very slow round. Paid $ 165 bucks and only completed 14 holes before it got too dark. Should have been able to complete the round on time but groups of 5 caused very slow play. Can't believe the course allows this type of grouping - no ranger on the course either. Greens were in terrible shape and very bumpy. Bunkers were not the same amount of sand on every hole - very inconsistent. Tee offs weren't even cut. Gave us a cart where the battery Died on the 10th hole. Had to get a new cart brought out. I bet if Jack Nicklaus knew this was going on he wouldn't want his name associated with this course. Beware the power of social media as the word will get out and people will stop showing up to be ripped off. I will not be back.
Did not let us down.
My wife and I were in Vegas for the week. She played 3 courses with me and I played 2 more on my own. 2 average courses and 3 upscale. We played on a very windy day which made things tough, but the second half of the day did calm down a bit. The range was beautiful but did not have a chance to hit the putting green. The course was in great shape as expected. Very challenging layout (especially in the wind) with a lot of carries off the tee over desert. Great views of the strip on the back nine. Staff was fantastic from start to finish. We got a great deal thru our club, but I would pay $125+ rack rates that I saw on golfnow. Highly recommend the course.
Great layout but they had not cut the fairways or tee boxes.
Very nice course
But then again why wouldn’t be? It’s Jacks favorite 18 holes
Course was in good shape
Some on the greens were a little rough but I’m putting that off to the time of year. Over seeding is coming in nice although maybe a little long but course is a wonderful layout and the million dollar homes are a site to see. Up tees make it very playable for average golfers even with a 600 yard par 5
Wow what a course
I have golfed many Jack Courses, I actually live on one of them, but Bear's Best is exactly what the name says. The views from this course are incredible and the various layouts that you get to play from the various other Jack courses is so much fun and challenging.
