Solid
Solid all around. Comfortable, polite, not snooty staff, Greens were in better shape than I remember a couple years ago. Always loved the layout. A little pricier than it used to be but still cheaper than most. Fairways were a little bare and baked, but good time overall. Will come back.
Forrest Greens is Brown
Forrest GREEN? More like Forrest BROWNs! This course is terribly maintained. The bunkers are full of muck and completely unplayable. I played this course and the fairways were hard as a rock with literal dirt making up most of it. My backyard has better grass than this course. I realized why they had so many Tee times open on a last minute Saturday soon after I teed of on the first hole. Would not recommend playing here. Save your money.
Great staff and greens. Poor fairways.
The layout is enjoyable. Each hole has a risk/reward tee. Challenging layout for all skill levels. The greens had just been aerated but we’re clearly excellent otherwise. The only concern is the fairways. Spotty and deadpan. Felt like I was playing in Texas. Pace of play was excellent especially during covid. Will play again because of value. We moved our balls to the grass in the fairways. No beverage cart and limited food at the turn. Overall. Just ok.
Not Ready
The course is still recovering from winter. The fairways have not filled in and the greens haven't healed from being punched. It is a good value if you are playing late in the day.
No traps
This is a great course design. Fairways and greens are in very good shape. All but 3 traps are unplayable and a free drop so you don't get a true score when playing this course. Weekend rates are overpriced for the condition of the traps.
Good pace of play
Course was in good shape great pace of play I don’t like standing an waiting I give them a B+
Tarnished gem
This a great parkland golf course, designed by Clyde Johnston, that rolls over a beautiful property adjacent to the Prince William Forest Park. Every hole has a unique character and challenge. The collection of par 3's is outstanding. The issues to be addressed are the bunker conditions and the greens. The bunkers are well-designed but poorly drained and maintained. There are deep pools of standing water & leaves in many of them and weeds growing in most. The bent grass greens are succumbing to poa and will be lost before long. They did roll well but suffer from the curse of golfers who don't repair their ballmarks.
Not worth the money, terrible condition
Spend more money and play other courses. The fairways had very little grass. The greens were extremely shaggy for a Saturday round. The roughy around te greens was mostly dirt with clumps of grass sporadically intertwined. The course has gone down hill I. The past two years. Final any other course you can besides this one.
Great Value for the Price
Love playing at Forest Greens. Has a fun course layout, especially on the back 9. The bermuda grass hasn't fully woken up yet as its still early in the season so expect some dirt and yellow grass for the time being. Look forward to playing here again.
