Brooksville Country Club

When I first played this course, you would have had a hard time convincing me there was a better course for the money in Florida. This course was elite and the layout made it so much fun to play.

Now after this last visit, they’ve let this place start to die for some reason. The greens are in terrible shape. The fairways, slightly better. The tee boxes felt like I was hitting off shag carpet from the 80s. You had to tee up an iron on a par three or you were basically hitting from the rough off the tee boxes.

It’s very disappointing what’s happening to Brooksville. I drove an hour from St. Pete to play here and I won’t be doing that again due to the condition of the course.

Maybe one day they will care again and restore it to what it was, one of the best courses in the state…

This place needs help in all areas terrible and 2 have the nerve 2 charge to play this is the worst 😫 I want a refund or a credit ty I will be contacting GN TO LET THEM KNOW

The area the course is in is absolutely beautiful. Range and practice area were decent. The tee boxes were a mess, and the greens weren’t even usable. If you want to get out and play for $20 and enjoy the scenery, then it’s not a bad deal. If you’re even a semi-serious golfer you will be disappointed. Nothing worse than playing a hole well and not being able to finish with a fair shot at a putt. I hope they can get this course buttoned up because I love the layout and the scenery.

I last played here around March or so of this year and the course had some issues then, but nothing like now.

Shamrock/weed fairways, BUSTED up greens, tee boxes are beat to shreds

This course is definitely in the worst condition of everything I've played in the Tampa Bay area, and I play a different course at least once a week.

I'm going to wait a year to see if it improves or they go out of business... Either way I'm not coming back here for awhile, they need to tear everything up and lay down completely new sod everywhere. And once that happens, they need to learn how to control fungus...

I'm not even sure if I'd come play here for free. I lost a ball that was smacked straight down the middle of the fairway...

The greens are absolutely unplayable. We play 2 or 3 days a week this is easily the worst course I’ve played in the past few years. Maybe the next ownership can get this fix. I’d expect this place to be shutdown very soon. Simply too many great choices in the same price range to waste money on this absolute garbage track.

From the first sight of the practice green, we knew the conditions were going to be very rough. It looks the owner is just collecting money. The fairways are terrible and the greens are worse. The greens were almost all sand with significant weeds growing on them. Tee boxes were also looked like no one takes care of them. Spoke to the clubhouse and they justified the conditions by saying the price was only 35 instead of 60 LOL.

Simply put, this course was a disaster. You can lose your ball in the middle of the Fairways. It is not a Fairways. Just pasture. And the greens are worse. 95% sand. I actually quit after 9 holes it was so bad.

Last year this course was in pretty good shape. It’s a public course in Florida so you can’t expect great conditions at this price, But honestly, greens with weeds growing up on the surface, horrible ruts and half the green just dirt and sand? Just sad. Fairway grass so high that you have to spend time looking for your ball, leading to slow play. Meanwhile, they’re mowing the rough? Wish I had pix because I saw other reviews and I thought they were just being overly critical.

Ankle deep rough and unkept fairways posed challenges to finding the ball. Tees and greens were ok. Major slow play on this day. Suspect 4-somes were spending lots of time hunting for balls.

The course at one time was in really good shape until the new owners took over and completely ruined the course! The greens are terrible. There isn't one green on the course that is actually putt-able

the tee-boxes are a joke! good luck in trying to find some grass to put your tee in the ground.

the fairways and rough are awful! No joke- i lost a ball in the middle of the fairway! The mowing equipment in always broken so they hardly ever cut the fairways and rough.

I wouldn't play here if it was for free. A lot of the existing members have not renewed their membership and moving on to other courses.

Go some where else and play..

Its so sad to see a fun course to play, in such poor shape. Many greens all brown n dead,fairways if call it that, in poor shape. Weeds n sand. Obviousley no water or chemicals applied. Paid $35, way over priced! Very sad , always enjoyed this course, hate to see another course be abandoned.

I've played this course many times in the past and it has been in somewhat decent shape. This last time though the course was in terrible shape. It definately looks as though routine maintenance is being neglected. The fairways were not mowed and you could easily lose your ball in the fairway. The rough was ankle deep grass. Some of the greens were like putting off of gravel. The quarry holes were great though - thats about it. Until management starts to maintain the course a little better I would not recommend this course to anyone. At least mow the fairways and the experience could have been much better. Sad to say. The layout is good though.

We had a group golfer coupon to play this course. Parking and carts were Ok. The course is not maintained for play. 1st tee box was full of weeds and bare spots. We all hit decent drives then went looking for the ball. The fairways had not been mowed for at least 3-4 days. The rough maybe a week or more. The grass in both the fairways and in the rough is full of weeds. Then we would get the ball to the green and it was mostly brown. Each of the following 8 holes were the same, we stopped after 9 and left.

It is a shame because the layout was nice.
