Meadowlark Golf Course
About
Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach is a player-friendly layout that is a popular choice amongst locals. Like most classically designed layouts, the course is short and tight but that also makes it easily walkable. The pin placements on the greens can be tricky and there are also some challenging water hazards that come into play on several holes. The golf course will test your short game skills but there are wide, player-friendly fairways that balance the trickier elements. Beware, though, numerous trees on the golf course make many of the tee shots tight and narrow. It is not an overly difficult layout but it is an enjoyable round that players of any skill level will enjoy. Meadowlark also offers affordable rates that make it doubly appealing.

Thank you for taking the time to provide a 3-star rating. We hope next time we can add a couple more stars to your experience!
Thank you for the rating! We look forward to having you out to the course again and making it a 5star experience!
Thanks for the 4star rating!
Fun golf
The fairways weren’t in the best shape but okay. Friendly staff and marshal. Greens were good.
Thank you for the 4-star rating and kind words about our course! The heavy rains this winter have left some bare spots in some fairways but we are working to get those back in tip top shape!
Really appreciate the 4-star review! Thank you!
Thank you for the 4-star rating!
Thanks fo the 4-star rating James! Looking forward to making it a 5-star experience the next time you join us for a round!
Appreciate the 5-star rating! See you out on the links again soon!
Starter was friendly the marshal was rude. Drove off cart path to avoid the 6 inches of standing water and he had a fit.
Our apologies for your interaction with the marshal. With the crazy storms we've been getting, our marshals have been very protective of the course. I will make sure to speak with them about the importance of their customer service with our guests, even with these tough conditions. Thank you for your candid feedback!
Swampy
Biggest problem, by far is the pace of play. 6+ hrs to finish the round. This is entirely unacceptable, should've just walked off after the front 9 but stuck it out. Golfed on a perfectly sunny day, but due to recent rains, most fairways were in pretty rough shape. Standing water and mud on every hole. Small lakes have formed on some fairways were I'm sure there hadn't been before. I suppose this adds to the challenge. On a positive note, the greens were in excellent condition. I would suggest avoiding this course until it's had a chance to dry out a bit.
You're absolutely right that the pace of play was unacceptable the day you played. We had a large tournament that morning and with the cart path only designation, they simply could not keep up pace even with our marshal pushing them along. We hope you give us another chance once the storms pass through and see a much better pace and side of Meadowlark!
Thank you for the 4-star review teekay3!
Hard day
Course is in better conditions than a few months ago- as you would imagine playing in winter the greens were extremely hard. Making wedge play almost impossible. I remember the greens playing quick in my prior round but they were extra fast that day. Fast greens mean good laughs!
Good value for money golf course.
Thank you for the kind words howardfoss! You sure are right about the greens, they have definitely been firm and fast as of late!
Muddy and under construction
7 to 8 hour round on a weekday early afternoon. Pace was horrid. Waited 45 min at a single par 3. Mud and drainage were a major issue. Cart paths not complete or washed out. Course has potential but needs a lot of work.
cjirocman, I am sorry to hear about your experience here at Meadowlark. We pride ourselves on having pretty good pace of play so I truly apprecaite you bringing this issue you had to our attention. On a positive note, the cart path issues you ran into are a thing of the past as that construction work has been completed and we have new paths on many holes. Hopefully you will give us another chance once these storms subside and we can present a much better experience for you!
Thank you for the 4-star review. Hopefully next time we can get it to a 5-star!
Looks like your experience at Meadowlark GC didn't live up to your expecations. Please feel free to reach out to me at dsipe@arcisgolf.com as I would love to hear about where we can improve.
Good Muni Course
I played this course for the first time. Recent rains impacted the course such that fairways were soggy resulting in cart path only. This slowed play resulting in a 4 hr and 50 mins round. The greens were in good shape and rolled fast. The staff was friendly and I was paired with some locals who were great to play with. The course just celebrated 100 years and you can see they are doing some work to make upgrades to cart paths. The cost to play was reasonable compared to other courses in SoCal. I did enjoy the round but would likely play other courses in SoCal which are better courses IMO.
Thanks for the 3-star review and kind words about our course. The cart path only restriction certanily slows down play and 4hr 50min is not a pace we hope to acheive during normal conditions. We hope you will come back our for another round once the storms pass.
Not easy to review
This is my first visit here. Over a month of the rainy season, the ground condition is out of normal state. So, it is hard to review at this time, where strange to California.
JihoonK, thank you for the review! Hopefully you are able to come play a round once the weather subsides and we get back to more normal conditions!
