Meadowlark Golf Course
About
Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach is a player-friendly layout that is a popular choice amongst locals. Like most classically designed layouts, the course is short and tight but that also makes it easily walkable. The pin placements on the greens can be tricky and there are also some challenging water hazards that come into play on several holes. The golf course will test your short game skills but there are wide, player-friendly fairways that balance the trickier elements. Beware, though, numerous trees on the golf course make many of the tee shots tight and narrow. It is not an overly difficult layout but it is an enjoyable round that players of any skill level will enjoy. Meadowlark also offers affordable rates that make it doubly appealing.

Slow round.
The course was in good condition. Doubt I'll ever play there on a weekend again. Play was painfully slow. It's cool they allow groups of five to play, but not sure the starter should be putting groups together to make groups of five. I'll have to try a week day to see if it's a better experience.
Good course but very slow play
Played on Sunday noon with a few friends - had an enjoyable round and the course was in good shape considering all of the rounds they host. Pace of play could be better - perhaps reduce/eliminate fivesomes on weekends? Good Bloody Mary's in the bar highly reccomended.
Love this course
The course is hilly and has water is some excellent strategic places. The greens are small and fast. Love playing here. Great challenge.
6 hours for 18 holes? YIKES!
Slowest round of golf ever. They were backed up when we got there. Had a 10:08 tee time but didn't get out until 10:45 and finished at 4:45. Slow play and no Marshal on the course. Okay it was president's day holiday, but if they are that busy then they need a better starter, some marshals or both.
Great Value. But.....
Course is way challenging. Greens are very tricky. And on the weekends get ready to play a 6 hour round! Only one group waved us up on a par three. We waited on every shot!! No pace of play and you can't get into any type of rhythm. This is the second time it's happened to us there, and honestly I'd rather play a course closer to me. It's slow to but half the drive.
Slow pace
Only problem is we for stick between a 5 sum that wouldn't save us up. Never seen a marshal there in 5 outings.
5hour, 15 min. round
Beautiful Thursday February afternoon. Course in pretty good shape, including the greens. However, the bunkers were mostly soaking wet. Practically impossible to blast out of them. 5 hours and 15. min. to play this 5600 yard course. Unbelievable! Not a marshall in sight to improve the pace. The 90 degree rule on many fairways and the 'use cart path only' rule on some holes costs us about 45 minutes.
Suggest using the 'waving up' rule on the par 3's.
First time out.
Looking forward to playing it again although it was slow.
WEEK DAY WONDER
This course is in good condition right now and the greens roll true and smooth. Accuracy is a bonus as many of the holes have narrow fairways with trees on both sides. There is water to contend with on a few holes that require stategy for the risk/reward benefits. The back 9 is the longer and more difficult of the course and has rolling hills and some elevated greens that are challenging.
Like Meadowlark
A friendly suburban GC; lot's of family and teenager action.
Play was a little slow, but it was Saturday after some rain.
Fun track!
This is a great course for begginers looking to play par 5s after they have been getting used to par 4s. Love the layout.
Good Value
First time playing. Great deal for $15. Not sure I would play it for the usual rate of $40+. Pretty wide open but lots of trees to make it challenging. The roughs are indeed rough. Club up twice!
Slow play anyone?
Teed off at 11am, played the last hole in the dark? This is like torture for a course under 6000 yards.
A twosome was befores us while I played in a threesome, maybe we should have combined?
Watch out for ball stealers, I called for my ball, they hit it anyway, leaving a cheaper ball.
Greens are a bit bumpy.
I played this course years ago, what happened, american golf?
Fun for the average player
I enjoyed the golf there very much. The staff was very friendly. I've played there several times in the last few years and I think it's in better than usual condition right now.
Customer friendly accessibility and layout
This was my first time playing Meadowlark and couldn't have enjoyed it more (unless I would have played better). The weather was great for January! The course was in excellent condition. My biggest complaint was that the mats on the driving range had no rubber tees.
Best "Bloody Mary" in SoCal
As the title states, the bartender makes the best "Bloody Mary" in SoCal. The food is always good and the waitstaff very friendly. The tee times generally run about 10 minutes late and they have since I started playing there. It's a nice place to tune up your game and enjoy a round with friends.
Play here
great course and even better people. Always helping us out and making sure we get out on time.
Pace of play was perfect, no waiting on any tee.
Hate the slow play
I like the course in general, but the grass condition on much of the course is pretty bad. Especially behind the greens, some lies are unplayable due to rock hard soil conditions. In addition, the huge amount of leaves on the course make it tough to find your ball. The greens were in good shape and the rough well managed. The play was so slow that we started at just past noon and played the last two holes in near darkness.
Over Crowded
I used the Golf Now App to find an early twilight time to go with a good friend on a rare Saturday we both had off. Golf Now booked us at 1:18pm without any issues. When we arrived, Meadowlark had 4 groups waiting at the 1st Tee, there was a 20 minute wait for a golf cart, and we finally tee'd off at about 1:45. Once we hit the course, we were 2 twosomes in 2 carts following 3 walkers. Then we would arrive at the next tee to watch two groups in front of us tee off, averaging 15 minutes waiting a tee. We never made it to the 7th hole, there were 4 groups waiting at that par 3, so we turned around and played 1-6 again, just to get our moneys worth, and barely squeezed in those again by nightfall. So that was 1-6 two times, in 4.5 hours!
OK course for the price
Course was ok for a public course. Staff was friendly and the course moved. I thought It would be a little better for an Orange County Course in Huntington Beach, but it was fine.. Slater's 50/50 on Beach Blvd and Adams sure hit the spot after!
