Golfer Reviews
This course has very interesting holes
The greens were bumpy and slow, it looked like the greens had been punched about two or three weeks ago. They were just not as good as greens should be.
Just Average
The greens were extremely bumpy and very slow. Sand traps were laced with rocks. Beyond the course conditions the wind blew very hard making the elevation changes add to a very difficult day. I had played this course 7-10 years ago and remembered that I was not impressed then either.
Lush and good challenges
Such a beautiful setting of desert & mountains. Awesome views wide fairways and challenge to make the green. A great
Golfing experience
Great course - tough conditions
Course was in great condition but weather didn't cooperate - tough course in 20-30 mph winds!
Nice course
Course has some wonderful view holes. Several greens had thin grass issues.
Golf with friends
Had a great time on the course with my out of town friends. We all enjoyed the course and it was fun to see their first reaction to each hole and the views.
Course Excellent - Closing Driving Range and Club House at 3/4 pm Not so Good
Course is Nice but I am writing this because I was not very happy with the following.
Booked a tee time for 9 holes at 3:30 pm on a Sunday. Just came off knee surgery so figured would play 9 holes then if feeling good would go in and pay for 9 more holes. As soon as we got there at 3 pm they told us driving range just closed. Not sure why the range would close at 3 pm. Then played 8 holes in 1hr 10 mins. Skipped hole in the middle. So now its 4:45 pm and we were told the pro shop is closed and we can not play anymore holes. We asked if we could just give the Marshall/starter the money and they can pay the pro shop the next day. Very easy solution. Man in Charge said NO. With no explanation.
The course was pretty empty. If the Man in Charge told me we were the last group on the course and they wanted to go home. I would have been fine with that or if he said go out and play and when they are ready to leave we would have to go. That would have been fine as well. But we got no explanation. Basically I drove 1 hour and 15 mins to play 8 holes. Not sure why the course would close down at 4 pm or so on a sunday.
Average
Average routing, average conditioning. Some interesting holes with drastic elevation changes. Greens roll fine, but are very hard. Very slow play and rangers will not ask members to speed up play. Course is relatively easy and short, so really no excuse for this. Would not pay full rate here.
Beautiful course
Course was in great shape. Got off a little ahead of our tee time but after the 4th hole things really backed up. 10 minutes on a tee box is a little long. Not sure what the hold up was but at times there were 3 groups waiting to tee off. Still had a great time though. It was a beautiful day and the beverages were cold.
Outstanding Value
Very impressed with this course. Played the Palmer Course which was in great shape. They were punching the tee boxes but it no effect on play. Greens were in great shape!
Fine course
Eccellent course., good condition and helpful, friendly staff
Carved through the canyons in Mesquite.
Awesome. Bring your camera, I forgot mine. Several holes have 100ft drop to the fairway, beautiful views. Now to golf. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens in great shape. Up club at least 1 maybe 2. If you live right the canyon walls will give back errant shots, some not all. A definite "play again". I hear the canyons course has even greater views.
The 9th does not return to the clubhouse but there is a concession between 9 - 10. limited selections. Hot dogs, etc.
Con: Beverage cart does not have sandwiches, just junk food, beverages and bars.
If choosing one or the other go with the Palmer.
A pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Nothing too complicated or challenging, although the Canyons Course does have its idiosyncrasies.
Greens were cut very long; akin to tee boxes on many courses. Too bad because the fun would have been greater with more "normal" greens.
Bunkers were essentially desert dirt with many rocks rather than the usual sand. Best to avoid them if possible or create your own "local rule" if you happen into one. Fairways were in good shape. Carts are needed due to elevation changes and distances from greens to tees.
Scenery was varied and interesting.
Nice Track
Course was in super shape. Fun course to play. Well worth paying while in Mesquite
Bottleneck
The course is great but the pace around some holes was very slow. We gave up on the 16th hole because there was 3 groups waiting to tee off.
Canyon Course
very challenging course. Definitely want to play again.
