When Hell's Point Golf Club opened in 1982, Golf Digest called it one of the best new courses and it was ranked as one of the 100 best-designed courses in the country. Renowned architect Rees Jones designed the course. He incorporated the many natural features provided by the golf course's location in the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The fairways are edged with saltwater marshes and Jones included his signature sculpted bunkers along the greensides. Just a stone's throw from the ocean, the golf course is as scenic as it is challenging. The second hole is one of southeastern Virginia's toughest golf holes with out-of-bounds to the left, trees to the right, and a sloped fairway that leads to a well guarded, double-tiered green. This par 4 is the no. 1 handicap hole at When Hell's Point Golf Club.

Great bang for your buck

The course is nice for a quick round of golf. Some of the tee boxes are a little trashed but honestly I’d go back and play there all the time

Very disappointing

Course conditions were abysmal, worst I’ve played in 30 years. I understand that it was only $40 but I expected better. Layout was fine and staff extremely friendly but this could not overcome poorly cut tees, shabby fairways, and lack of a rough. I hate to give a poor review but you should not spend your money here.

Great course, and fun layout. If you’re playing the white tee boxes it definitely is like standing on the moon. More level and plush tee boxes from the blues. Fairways could use some trimming also. 3rd time playing here and the same two issues. Won’t stop me from playing here again though. Staff is chill

Great course

I live in a resort town and playing golf is a joke I'm a member at a golf course and they over book every day 1/2 hr wait to tee off and your next shot. (Sucks) it was great to have a steady pace of play. And there are goats on the course it was pretty awesome .

Great layout, slow greens, rakes were nice to see around traps too bad people didn't use them

Nice layout, check your yardages, yardage book with tips were helpful. Tee boxes need some help and people need to rake traps after themselves, several balls ended up in large footprints. Greens were soft and slow.

Great Course

First time playing here and will absolutely be coming back. With the exception of a couple of tee boxes, the course itself was in excellent shape. An open course with a great layout. Definitely some challenging areas, but overall seemed to have something for every skill level.

Wonderful Surprise in Virginia Beach

My future brother in law was coming into town and chose this course while he was doing some research. It was a really and fun challenging course. Also it was different to see things like goats coming out while playing, if you love being outdoors and nature you have to check out this course, The whole staff was super friendly and when I mentioned it was my first they gave me a phenomenal course field guide/yardage book. It was very helpful and informative. Someone really took some time to put it together.

Round two VA Beach

Great course, conditions were good. Some tee boxes looked rough but overall great shape. Enjoyed the goats off the first tee. Played there ten years back and it was great to play again. There were a few water holes that can challenge one's ego or you can play them safe and economical. Had a blast.

A good day of golf

First of all, it's hard to beat a 3.5-hour round. And because of the course's location in Virginia Beach, the golf comes with an air show. Today, it was vintage World War II Navy fighters.

Fairways are decent; greens are glacier-slow but roll true.

The staff here is exceptionally friendly.
