About
When Hell's Point Golf Club opened in 1982, Golf Digest called it one of the best new courses and it was ranked as one of the 100 best-designed courses in the country. Renowned architect Rees Jones designed the course. He incorporated the many natural features provided by the golf course's location in the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The fairways are edged with saltwater marshes and Jones included his signature sculpted bunkers along the greensides. Just a stone's throw from the ocean, the golf course is as scenic as it is challenging. The second hole is one of southeastern Virginia's toughest golf holes with out-of-bounds to the left, trees to the right, and a sloped fairway that leads to a well guarded, double-tiered green. This par 4 is the no. 1 handicap hole at When Hell's Point Golf Club.

Hmm.
Grass was very short or dry. Tee boxes were mostly dead with holes. Sand traps were in good shape, but no rakes (covid ?). Play was ok on front 9, we got pushed by a group on the back 9 even though we waited on group in front of us. A single flew around us while we were putting (rude) and hit into the group in front...no marshal. It was ok, I guess.
Back up today
The greens are in decent shape ... some tee boxes have no grass ... pace was slow today Sunday
Wow!
Haven't played this course in over a year, fairways and greens were beat up. Today- WoW- they have put in a lot of work, fairways and green are in great plush shape, no bare spots. Going to now make it a regular play!
Masters Sunday
Good course layout and condition of the course for the amount of rain we’ve gotten the past weekend. The only problem with the course today was the pace of play, almost 5 1/2 hours, with no marshal to be had. Even a weekend round shouldn’t take that long, blew up the rest of the day.
Course returning to it’s former glory
Great course. Always a fun challenge. Greens coming along. Couple more weeks and I believe they will be really good. Just wish players took the care and fixed divots. Today, I felt it was my job to fix not only mine, but at least three to four others on each hole.

The course was in very good shape the greens were very very good I do recommend this golf course to anyone especially for the price
Not Bad, Worth a shot
I enjoy playing here with new people or people not looking to play too seriously. The Greens are pretty garbage, mostly sand.
The course however is beautiful and well spaced out. Great for going to enjoy the experience and friends but less on great golf. I enjoy it solid 3 stars.
Fun track but tight!
Nice fun course. Tight fairways so you need to be straight off the tee. Lots of sand. Great value, staff is awesome. Conditions were not great but it's still early season. Ive played here in the summer and the conditions are fine.
Sandy greens
The greens were aerated leaving the greens sandy... but the bunkers are outstanding... if u land in one
Great course awesome Rates!
I go to here often it's one of the best in Virginia Beach in my opinion! The staff is always very kind and the course is in great condition for what you pay. Definitely must play if you're in the Virginia Beach area!
