About
When Hell's Point Golf Club opened in 1982, Golf Digest called it one of the best new courses and it was ranked as one of the 100 best-designed courses in the country. Renowned architect Rees Jones designed the course. He incorporated the many natural features provided by the golf course's location in the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The fairways are edged with saltwater marshes and Jones included his signature sculpted bunkers along the greensides. Just a stone's throw from the ocean, the golf course is as scenic as it is challenging. The second hole is one of southeastern Virginia's toughest golf holes with out-of-bounds to the left, trees to the right, and a sloped fairway that leads to a well guarded, double-tiered green. This par 4 is the no. 1 handicap hole at When Hell's Point Golf Club.

Poor drainage
Yesterday only the front nine was open due to flooding
What happened to Hells Point
I don’t know what happened to this course. Maybe new owners. Growing up in Lago May the neighborhood which the course is in , HP used to be in awesome shape. It now has gone to poop. Greens suck. It just is sad
Very challenging golf course
Like other said some green have bump, but fairway are considered good although some part have soft ground, but it' not bothered , I definitely coming back to this golf course
Fair ways, Tee boxes are all very good. but the Greens still are in need of some more work better than last time but still a ways to go.

Course in dire need of makeover on Greens, Fairways, Bunkers, Rough and Driving Range.
Only good thing was found alot of golf balls around the rough. Will not be back.
Late September 2020
As usual, design of course is stellar with unique layout and holes. Unfortunately, greens took a hit and we putted in greens that were like average fairways. Still recommend as the course design is good.
Aptly named
Got a hot deal price of $22 instead of $40. Still overpaid. Play was limited to back nine due to aeration. The greens were half diseased and after first hole we didn't bother to putt. Would not recommend for avid golfers only newbies who are content to play anywhere. After 3 days in Virginia beach I'm thinking that any course below $50 is a take your chances...
Greens
Greens are awful !!! Not just because they aerated They were bare with black Moss.
Very scenic and woody. There are wild goats on the course. Pretty cool!
If they get there greens back I would love to play there
Bad shape, go elsewhere fir now, hopefully be better next.
Don't waist your time, back 9 closef, front in really bad shape, they should pay id to play here.
Groundskeeper Needed
We live in SC and play golf weekly. This course had horrible greens, the putting surface was the worse I have ever seen.
Staff who checked us in not friendly...didn't feel welcome at all
Greens need alot of work........need to drive around and push allow players....Sat 32 min waiting for a group in front of us
