Rating 71.4

Nestled at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains, Indian Canyons Golf Resort offers two championship courses with stunning views. The two golf courses, North and South, have completely different layouts but they are both sheltered from the wind thanks to the surrounding mountains. The South Course is the shorter of the two, making it the more player-friendly course. That is not to say it is not a challenge though. The rolling fairways are framed by contoured mounding and four expansive lakes come into play on six holes. The par 5s are particularly memorable. There are also well over 1,300 palm trees throughout the golf course, which includes hundreds of Washingtonia filifera palms. These trees are native to the Agua Caliente Tribe and an important part of their history.

Indian Canyons Golf Resort South Course

I have always played the North Course and was looking forward to playing the South Course. I had heard many good things about the South Course which proved to be true! I loved it from the very first tee off till the final hole. The course is so beautiful and I would say the greenest course I have played this year. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in great shape and the configuration of the course design was exceptional. The course is fair, no tricked up holes and pace of play was very good. This course has a lot of celebrity history and as been around a while. I can't wait to play it again! One of the nicer courses in the desert area!

More trouble on the way?

I love this course, but the tell-tale signs of "take the money" and run are starting to appear. I played it in November and the greens were in bad shape. I thought it might have been a seeding issue, but this time out they were also in terrible condition: barely any grass and pock-marked everywhere: All of us noticed and were not happy. In addition, one of the washrooms we stopped at looked like it had not been cleaned properly for months -- toilet and sink areas a mess -- and at the other, the door was broken. This facility has reached the + $100 rate for a round of golf. When I come to a top-charging course I expect excellent fairways, excellent greens, and excellent facilities. The managers can and should do better, and I won't be back until I know the improvements have been made.

Good resort design.

Fairways, greens and bunkers are in great shape. Some tees need leveling. Grubby, stinky waste areas from flooding. Driving range was terrible with mostly dirt to play from and unbelievably expensive -- $7 for 40 balls! Never paid that much in decades of golf. Considering condition it should be free.

Poor greens for a premium course

The greens were riddled with ball marks and other blemishes...

Beautiful Course

The course is beautiful. Views of mountains all around. Lots of well maintained sand traps and a few water hazards. Challenging course for an average golfer but lots of fun.

OK

This course is fine, not as good as the North Course, but more exoensive. Think folks play it for the mountain views. With the recent flooding, areas adjacent to the course are a mess and smelly.

A Golf Experience Not To Be Missed

An essential

Part of any golf visit to the Coachella Valley. Although expensive it is the finest golf experience in the Valley. Very challenging holes in pristine condition. A staff that greets you with a warm smile and places your clubs IN your car.

My wife left her purse on the drivingvrange and the Marshall spent two hours tracking her down to return it ... a gracious, persistent effort.

Many thanks to Benny Clifton ! He represents the fine qualities of a well trained staff.

One of our favourites

This is one of our favourite courses in the Valley. There is some damage from the recent flood but overall the course is in good shape.

The back nine was a bit slow but there was a large group out golfing. Overall a great day at Indian Canyons.

Good course

After closure due to floods the course was in good condition but greens were thin and quite slow. Fairways were lush but a bit long. Play was slow considering we were all trying to get 18 holes in before dark. Expensive unless you get a special deal

I really like this course. Has great layout. Greens roll pretty good. The course went through a ‘flood of the century’, and was working on recovery. I have played this course many times in the past, it is a great course. It also has a great bar and grill with good food.

Great Course

Beautiful setting. The course is in good shape. It's challenging with lots of bunkers. Only complaint - we had a 4 hour and 45 minute round. Too long!! Thankfully, it was a gorgeous day, we were with good friends and had a great time.

Tough pin placemens

Course was in good shape. There was a frost delay which resulted in out tee time put back about 10 minutes. Started on the back nine and pace of play was slow for 4 holes then things got better. The pin placements were tough today. We always enjoy playing Indian Canyons South.
