About
Beaver Creek divides Old Hickory Golf Club with nine holes sitting north of the creek and nine holes south. The course has a classic parkland layout that plays across gently rolling hills. The fairways were cut through forests of mature hardwoods but they are wide and carefully sculpted to direct balls toward the middle. Skillful players could even try to use the contours to their advantage. Each hole has a bunkers but the bunkering is not excessive. In addition to the mounding and bunkering, the undulating terrain provides natural elevation changes. The golf course finishes with what is arguably its toughest hole. This monster par 5 is 620 yards from the back tees. It requires a drive over a ravine with a natural waste area to the left. Many consider it to be the toughest golf hole in northern Virginia.

Great set-up but poor conditions
I have played Old Hickory a couple of times in the past two years and am always a bit disappointed with the quality of the course. It is priced about $20-25 too much, but I was able to get a $83 rate (thanks to GolfNow). Fairways and greens both have a lot of issues with weeds and fungus/disease. Even in the DC area, you should expect better conditions over $75. The sister property in Leesburg (Strawberry Falls) is a much better experience for the price. Starter was also not wearing a mask... Challenging but Fun course
Love this layout. A lot of challenges and hazards throughout the course and the greens definitely make you think before you putt. The staff was extremely helpful and polite and the starter seems like he has never seen an unhappy day. Will definitely played this course again.
Rough Shape
Dead grass everywhere (tee boxes, rough, fairway, greens. A lot of ground under repair. Lots of weeds and crabgrass. A lot of courses in better shape for the money.
Decent Course
Course was in 7/10 shape. Some fairways and greens had burnt out patches of grass. There was also a considerable of holes with ground under repair especially near the greens. Played the course on a hot deal. Would recommend playing it for sure but only at the hot deal rate as the course needs some TLC over the summer. I’m sure with work it will look amazing in the fall.
poor conditions due to heat
The course was in really bad shape after the recent heat wave over the 4th. Also lots of areas with ground under repair. It's a good course with a good layout but can't recommend it for the price given its current conditions.
Lot of ground under repair
Looks as though course management is repairing bunkers/removing them. Some Greens are rough looking due to temperatures, but still playable. I’ll be back!
Still an enjoyable course to play
Fast pace as very few players our today. Greens are. Looking rough but it is July in northern VA. Which is a harsh time for anything green. Staff always friendly and helpful!!
Course condition deteriorating rapidly
Greens have a lot of brown patches. They were in much better condition in April. Some of thee bunkers are non playable
FaIrways are average.
Overall too expensive for current condition of course.

The course was in poor condition. This course would be about $15 at most $54 hot deal.
Dumpster fire
There was more ground under repair than there was grounds. OB was sometimes on the side of a cart parth. Don't bring your driver to the course as a miss of less than 15 wars in either way will result in a lost ball in unattended grounds. It was not a fun course to play, and the difficulty was not clear (hidden bail outs).
The greens rolled fair, thankfully, the one saving grace of the course.
Use waze when getting GPS directions to the course. I used Apple Maps with the same address and it brings you into a Ryan Homes community instead of the golf course.
What happened?
This was the first time we played this course in 3 and half years. They used to maintain this golf course much better before. We were a little disappointed in the course condition...
Could be better
I know times are tough but 97 bucks for this course is too much , ground under repair all over the course. I like the layout and enjoy playing there. But I wouldn’t play for that much again.
Like the course and the staff is nice
I enjoy playing the course as it is so close to my home, but the pace of play is always up to a roll of the dice. Sunday started out well until the 8th hole when everything slowed to a crawl. The last three holes took over an hour to complete. :(. Painful but will try again next time!
