Old Hickory Golf Club
About
Beaver Creek divides Old Hickory Golf Club with nine holes sitting north of the creek and nine holes south. The course has a classic parkland layout that plays across gently rolling hills. The fairways were cut through forests of mature hardwoods but they are wide and carefully sculpted to direct balls toward the middle. Skillful players could even try to use the contours to their advantage. Each hole has a bunkers but the bunkering is not excessive. In addition to the mounding and bunkering, the undulating terrain provides natural elevation changes. The golf course finishes with what is arguably its toughest hole. This monster par 5 is 620 yards from the back tees. It requires a drive over a ravine with a natural waste area to the left. Many consider it to be the toughest golf hole in northern Virginia.

Great Course
I though Old Hickory was in excellent shape for this time of the year. The Greens were fine, slightly slower than usual. The Fairways were great and the grass was growing and green. I am looking forward to playing again in the near future.
Great layout
Fantastic layout. Course in good condition for early spring . Tees & greens in good shape. Fairways coming in nicely for this fine of year.
Crowded but pace of play was ok. We will definitely play again
Course in Good Shape
Play here a few times a year. Played on a nice day at the beginning of March. Course was in pretty good shape for that time of year. Enjoyed the round!!
So much potential
I can't help but wonder whether the poor conditions were attributable to the winter weather and considerable rain in the last few weeks. The layout is top notch, but the course is in need of considerable work. It's going to take a lot of money, labor, time and sun to get this course where it deserves to be, and that, potentially, is one of the best public venues in NoVa.
A Soggy Round
Even though the course was soggy after it rained the previous day and that morning surprisingly the course, especially the green, held up well. Hopefully all the water goes a long way to a course in excellent condition in the spring.
Old Hickory
I play this course very often, and since the summer the staff has done a really good job of getting it back in shape. Can't ever complain when you get to play golf in January, so the fact that it was wet (especially since we got snow on Tuesday that had melted) is really a non-factor here. Glad to see they are working so hard to get the course back!
A Regional Favorite
Old Hickory provides first class professional staff and an impeccably maintained course. From the pro shop that greets you upon arrival, including the early morning maintainers freshly mowing the greens, and culminating with an enthusiastic post round “ How’d it go?” as you return the clubhouse, every employee exudes genuine hospitality. I return here again and again for the challenging layout, the positive experience, and the value for the money
Old Hickory GC
Pro shop staff super friendly and very helpful. Checkin was quick and off we went to play golf. Golf course in good shape and challenging. Play the course, you will enjoy it. Thanks, Fred
Course looking really good this fall
I was curious to go back to OH after reading some pretty negative reviews regarding course conditions after the long/hot summer. I have played out there more than 20 times over the yars, so I was suprised tos see such comments. well I am happy to report that the couse has grown back and is in fantastic shape! As staff explained, the lack of rain all summer really hit them hard, esp with the steamt nights taking its toll on the bent grass. Happy to report the place is doing very well with the mild/cool temps around these days. For those who've not been played it yet, make a trip out and hit the clubhouse after...food has been spot on!.

Worst conditions I have ever seen
This used to be a great course always in great shape. I have never seen a course in worse conditions than when we played. They gave up have off our next round But I don’t think I would go back bc the conditions were that bad .
Sad to see where it is now compared to what it used to be
