Old Hickory Golf Club
About
Beaver Creek divides Old Hickory Golf Club with nine holes sitting north of the creek and nine holes south. The course has a classic parkland layout that plays across gently rolling hills. The fairways were cut through forests of mature hardwoods but they are wide and carefully sculpted to direct balls toward the middle. Skillful players could even try to use the contours to their advantage. Each hole has a bunkers but the bunkering is not excessive. In addition to the mounding and bunkering, the undulating terrain provides natural elevation changes. The golf course finishes with what is arguably its toughest hole. This monster par 5 is 620 yards from the back tees. It requires a drive over a ravine with a natural waste area to the left. Many consider it to be the toughest golf hole in northern Virginia.

Premium fees and average conditions
Great course with a lot of potential, however, the bunkers - particularly on #2 and #4 where there was limited sand in bunkers and rocks throughout. Most of the bunkers on the course were fine.
Surprised that the flags were bolted to the flagsticks without prisms which made rangefinder accuracy less than desired.
Given the premium $$$ paid for green fees, it was very disappointing to find that these things were ongoing - I have played the course a lot, and had been led to believe that they were being addressed some time ago..
Great round of golf
very fun round on a very scenic course... Will definitely be back.
Chipping green 9.5
Driving range 4 (mats only and drivers only into a net
Putting green 9
Course beauty 9
Greens 8 (still recovering from aeration a little) lots of tiering but fair
Fairways 9+
Had a great time... The course is longer than most in VA and yet still fair on the drives.
Great staff and solid course conditions
All the staff we met were great and very friendly. Great greens. Range area was muddy and mats were in poor condition. Would definitely play again.
Great Value
Upscale look and feel with reasonable prices. Great greens. A couple of very unique holes.
Great course!
Played on Friday afternoon. Course was wide open and finished right at 4 hours after finally catching a group on 15.
Unfortunately, there was clearly an outing in the morning and the area around the holes on the greens was understandably, a little bumpy. Probably, why I got a good deal on golfnow, so I guess it evens out.
Almost broke 80
Always a fun track to play. Greens were still a little bumpy from aeration, but over all good time was had by all.
Great course
Great course, well maintained. We played cart path only day (after rain) so it slowed the pace considerably
Slightly dissapointed
Would have been nice to know the greens had been aerated!!!
Unable to eat after round because we were not informed at tee off time there was a wedding reception planned for that afternoon. Applebee's was an adeqaute replacement.
Unfortunate Conditions for a weekend round
I play Old Hickory often and usually love it. The Layouts is great but the conditions are hit or miss. Played 18 holes on 7-10-2015. The fairways were not mowed, greens were punched and got no prior notice. Was not happy with the course conditions.
Rate switch
I was quoted a rate of $55 when the tee time was made. When I got to the course, I was greeted by the general manager who said the rate will be $69. After explaining the original quote, he stood firm and refused to budge. I was left with a bad taste for this club's customer service policy. This has influenced my desire to return for future rounds.
Old Hickory -- "A Must Play"
From the Staff to the Course, Excellent Overall!!! Narrow Fairways, therefore, pack extra sleeves of balls.
A little pricey
I would not play this course fro the price they're asking.
It is worth the Golf Now price.
It could definitely use more visible distance markers.
Loved the course
It's challenging, but fair. I love the greens because of the undulations.
Great course for a golf outing
Old Hickory is the best public course in the area. Conditions are always fantastic. The course is challenging and requires accurate shot making. The staff always makes our annual outing a great success for everyone. Thanks and we'll be back again next year.
Playing from the tips provides a challenge
Very nice course! This was my second time playing Old Hickory. I must admit each time gets better, however, you have to employ course management. Looking forward to playing it again!

Great
Great course. Challenging, great greens. Should post handicaps at tee box. 22's should not hit from black or gold.
A good round of golf. Great course!
Had a great time. Played with a member after the tournament. There was some back up initially but the pace picked up. Overall a great course to play.
Grade B
Management could have paid better attention to details like no sand in containers on carts, water coolers out of water and extreme pin placements. Course was in good condition. Grade of B on a scale of A-F.
Nice Track
Overall a very nice course. The greens run true and hold well. I would not say they were fast. It would take a long time to get bored of this place
Excellent course
The course is in great shape and the staff is friendly.
