About
Candler Hills Golf Club in Ocala was designed by Florida native Gordon G. Lewis. In a state that has no shortage of golf courses, Candler Hills manages to stand out. The layout offers plenty of length at 7,233 yards from the back tees. The 662-yard fourth hole is the longest par 5 in Florida. There are no water hazards on the golf course, but what it lacks in water it more than makes up for in sand. Strategically placed traps line the fairways and greens. The layout has some challenging holes but it's fair and playable for all skill levels. Candler Hills G.C. is also well known for its extensive practice facility, which has a range with target greens placed at different yardages and a short-game area with a practice bunker and undulating green.

Great course to play
This course has a real nice layout. The condition is always excellent. Staff is very professional and friendly. I really enjoy playing this course.
Outstanding course & staff
Great course and staff (inside staff & pro). The only problem was that we were paired with a very rude person (who we understand lives at Candler, by the name of "Richard"). We came on GolfNow at 1:10 and were paired with this rude person and another . This guy would drive his cart up close to the greens (ignoring the signs) and on the 18th he ws to lazy to walk to the restroom , need I say more! In my opinion this "slob" should be barred from the facility.

Best FL experience
Quit after 9 because my rider couldn't handle the cold but shot the best score in a long time. Staff was extra friendly. They gave my rider a hot choc and a blanket while he waited in the clubhouse for me to finish the front. There's some detours around construction. Will go back to play all 18 soon.
Candler Hills
Nice course. I played on a cold and windy florida winter day. Pace was good, not many players out.
Starter gave great advise before front 9 and added more tips for back nine at the turn. Looking forward to playing again
Sand traps
Enjoyed playing this course. Interesting amount of sand traps but doesn’t prevent shot making. Will play this course again.
Good value
Price through Golfnow was a good value, but I wouldn't pay premium price.
Very friendly staff
Had great experience at this golf course.Both pro shop staff and restaurant staff were friendly and informative. Course was in excellent shape. Greens were quick but rolled true. Only disappointment was that par 3’s all of similar length requiring long irons from both back tees .Would definitely play here again
Beautiful course
Course is in good shape. The greens role true and the fairways are in good shape for this time of year.

Great experience thru the day! Course well mantained with some wind challege and well designed bunkers! Definitely going back! Friendly staff!
Decent course
Wide fairways and lot's of traps. Moderately maintained. Very good clubhouse staff. Ineffective marshal dealing with slow play.
Nice layout & friendly staff
The course is extremely well kept. Friendly staff greet and check in with you often during the play. Above par restaurant. I would recommend the place to fellow golfers!

Candler was in very good condition following the harsh weather. Greens were as fast as I've seen them!

Candler was in great shape, and weather was perfect. Greens were moderately quick, fairways lush. Its a great course to play - open, no water, large bunkers.
