About
Candler Hills Golf Club in Ocala was designed by Florida native Gordon G. Lewis. In a state that has no shortage of golf courses, Candler Hills manages to stand out. The layout offers plenty of length at 7,233 yards from the back tees. The 662-yard fourth hole is the longest par 5 in Florida. There are no water hazards on the golf course, but what it lacks in water it more than makes up for in sand. Strategically placed traps line the fairways and greens. The layout has some challenging holes but it's fair and playable for all skill levels. Candler Hills G.C. is also well known for its extensive practice facility, which has a range with target greens placed at different yardages and a short-game area with a practice bunker and undulating green.

Never disappointed
Our foursome that likes to play different courses loves playing here
Course in great shape. Land construction on front but doesn't hinder play. I played as single but teamed up with a double. No delays on course and finished in 4 hours.
Beautiful Course
Course is in amazing shape, Need to bring a bucket and a shovel cause you will be playing on the beach. Many bunkers. But great sand to work out of. Long course if you play from the Green or Black tees. Very challenging for all levels. No water on the course and wide open for the straying tee shots. No doubt a great course to play.
Fun Place To Play
Good course, enough challenges to keep your attention. Staff is excellent, well marshalled and pace of play is very good.
Senior friendly
Very enjoyable course , challenging but fair. Pin placement can determine the degree of difficulty. Mostly open fairways with no water hazards but lots of sand traps
Great course
Great course. Layout great. Conditions today disappointing due to recent aeration and top dressing. But that is normal for this time of year. Play it a lot. If u don't play this course ,u r missing a real treat. Especially after the greens heal. Fun!! course.

Kinda over priced due to the competition in the area..
Course was in great condition and ripe for the picking!! Putts rolled true and no surprises from the tee box.. great experience and would certainly play again!!
As advertised, Candler rocks.
Great greens, fairways, sand. NO water hazards. Just great, classic golf under nice conditions at a great facility.
Friendly and Fun
We play here every year when visiting friends who live in Candler Hills and always have a great day. The greens are large and interesting and the layout and diversity is very nice. All the staff are very friendly and the restaurant is now very good as well - it has been taken over by new management and the food was very good - especially enjoyed the 1/2 size wedge salad and the crab cakes.
What's the deal with the greens?
We have played Candler Hills before and enjoyed it enormously as other reviewers have noted off course the staff are great and the amenities excellent..Likewise the the layout is great but for some reason the the day we played the greens were slow, and when I say slow I mean putting through treacle slow, in addition the fairways were very thin. To be fair this may have something to do with the time of year and the changing of the seasons and so forth. and we will certainly give it another try in the future.

When we travel to south Florida, we make it a point to stop in Ocala just so we can play Candler Hills.
Wonderful course. Wide open fairways. Friendly staff and a really good restaurant.
Great Layout
Tee boxes and fairways a bit thin but everything is in the growing mode and conditions will be excellent soon. Greens are very good and everyone was extremely nice. My only negative was the beverage cart didn't come around on the back nine....(lol) I plan on returning soon.
Good management equalls good course to play
What else can I say, great staff (lady pro, cart people, and starter). It was hot and staff came around to make sure we had enough water, etc. I would say it is a must play course if you are in the area.
coming out of winter
the course was greening up after some rain and the hot weather. Greens were a bit slower than usual because the grass was growing....OK though.

Staff is always friendly and helpful. Course is fun. Played the same ball for 18 holes.
