Bear Creek Golf Complex - Bear Course
About
The Bear Course is one of two courses at the Bear Creek Golf Complex; it is a championship-length course while the other, the Cub Course, is an executive length course. The Bear Course is an inland, links-style course with rolling fairways and well-manicured greens. Strategically placed bunkers situated throughout the course add some challenge to the course. A round of golf on this course can be played in less than four hours. The Bear Creek Golf Complex, in addition to the two courses, also offers a full grass driving range, two putting greens, and a short game area with a bunker.

Paid too much
$65 on golf now $95 walk-in rate for a round of golf. No problem. Announced cart path only when we got to hole 1. That’s a problem! It’s an ok course if they price themselves for what the course is. We made it to hole 4 and cart lady says it’s her last round. Really 230pm on a Saturday? If you make people walk the whole course in 98 degrees you would think the beverage cart would be there til the end of the day. Not really one to speak badly but seriously! Glad Arizona has a lot of other choices to pick from. Hope management realizes that as well.
Decent track
I enjoyed the round. Conditions were good for this time of year and over seeding. Car path only, but we were 3 1/2 hours playing time. Course was not overly challenging, but had some decent holes on it.
Greens were slow, but that seems to be the theme during our stay in Phoenix, over seeding makes for slow greens
Won’t return til next summer
Can’t believe I paid $70 at 4pm for cart path only, over seeded fairways and shaggy greens. That was my mistake but won’t be returning til next summer when the prices are back to normal. Staff is always friendly I just wish they had a marshal to keep up pace of play
Bear Creek
Course was in great shape. The only knock was pace of play. At times it was terrible. for the cost there are better courses in the valley!!
Bear Champion Course
We were not informed prior to booking that the course was preparing for overseeding
Great day
We had 2 players got paired with 2 guys they were great . We were jokeing and the frist round went quick. Their was a men's club tournament so after are frist round ( 18 ) stopped at clubhouse paid for a re- round which was only $20. But took a long time to get are food .we made it due to it was wide up on the frist tee.
Very simple track with little desire to return
This course is fine, but in terms of value I find many of the other options in the area to be much much better. If you want to play a track that is straight hole after straight hole this is great, but after getting through the front 9 I found myself wanting some more variety. Conditions were as expected in late summer right before overseed, I just don’t see any reason why I would choose this track over most of the other (equally priced) courses nearby with a more fun layout. Would be great for new golfers, or for young players picking up the game.
Bear is in really good shape for AZ summer months!!
Was the course perfect, no. If you want perfect then go to a Troon or private course. I play 1-2 times a week. For the shape that Bear championship course is in you will be hard pressed to find a better bang for your buck. Most everything was nice and green. Tee boxes were in great shape, fairways for the most part were in good shape. There were areas where there was not much grass, but I’ve seen it a lot worse on other courses this summer. If there is anything to have a slight complain about it might’ve been that the greens were pretty slow and not completely healed from being punched. However, I would go back in a heartbeat.
Great
Easy to follow and well laid out. Great course. Will play it again soon.
We’ll be back
I live in the SE valley and usually play the higher end courses. Hadn’t considered Bear Creek but they had the earliest Sunday tee time on short notice, the morning after a thunderstorm. Very pleasant surprise! Conditions great for midsummer Not many areas of standing water or mud. Carts are gas powered and loud. Played a little harder than the low Slope and Rating, which is a good thing. We’ll e back!
Fun day
I paired up with a great guy so that was a plus immediately! Played the whites good shape tee to green staff was friendly not used to the heat almost got me but I finished fun round!
