Bear Creek Golf Complex - Bear Course
About
The Bear Course is one of two courses at the Bear Creek Golf Complex; it is a championship-length course while the other, the Cub Course, is an executive length course. The Bear Course is an inland, links-style course with rolling fairways and well-manicured greens. Strategically placed bunkers situated throughout the course add some challenge to the course. A round of golf on this course can be played in less than four hours. The Bear Creek Golf Complex, in addition to the two courses, also offers a full grass driving range, two putting greens, and a short game area with a bunker.

Very average
Very average, maybe below average condition. Love the layout, has so much potential to be great. I get it’s hard to maintain in the desert but for what they charge you’d think it would be a little better. I practice here weekly and will continue to but probably won’t play the course for awhile.
Pace of Play
Great day on the course. Greens putted well and were in good shape. 4 hour round at a pleasant pace.
Not Worth the Money
This course is in pretty poor condition. Half the course should be considered “ground under repair.” The fairways were not in great condition and there was no transition from fairway to rough to dirt area. Not a desert course, but a dirt course. Greens were alright, but this place is way too expensive for how poor of condition it is in. Hot dog was good.
Friday 3-26-21
Variable weather with wind & a little rain. Lots of dirt on this course with undulating greens and tough pin positions. Too expensive with many better options out there.
$65 in March?!
Wow. This was a very disappointing course. $65 for the end of March for a course in this poor of condition is a joke. Greens look like they have a fungus. Dead, brown circles everywhere. Makes putting almost impossible. Lots of dead spots all over the fairways. Really disappointing shape. Would not recommend spending more than $20 to play here. On a positive note, the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating!
Get what you pay for in the winter
Compared to other rounds I've played here in the late fall, this was disappointing, to say the least. Tee times were running 25-30 minutes behind, and the pace of play was ridiculously slow - even for a Friday.
Slow and not great shape
NIce practice facility but lacking grass. Ranger more concerned about driving off cart path than maintaining pace of play. Sometimes hard to tell dirt/desert from rough. Beverage cart disappeared after front nine after seeing her at least twice on front. Had we been alerted of this we would have stocked up at turn.
Have not played Bear Creek in 2 years. The course shape, greens and fairways has gone down drastically. The greens were extremely slow with many brown spots. The fairways had many dry spots. I love the course set-up but it is not being taken care of properly. I won’t be back until drastic changes are made.
Average
Played the regulation course on a Saturday afternoon. Pace of play was fairly slow. Conditions were okay. I play the course because it is convenient and close, but I struggle to recommend it to others. Value is just fair given the conditions, price, and pace of play.
Weekend Golfer
The course was not in good condition compared to others played this week. Fairways had some rough spots, bald spots. Greens were in good condition for the most part and held most shots. The one thing that we will remember most East how many gophers were on the course. They need to get them under control.
Beautifully laid out course
This isjust a very scenic and well laid out course to play. The staff is great and the overall course conditions are above average. Some added sand is needed as it is not fluffy, but a bit thin. The greens need to be watered more to hold a drive. The fairways are in great condition. I really enjoyed the beauty of the course. I definitely would recommend it and am returning at the end of my two week visit to Arizona for one more round.
Nice course
For the money I was expecting a nicer course, but not a bad course. Staff was great, the layout was good, but for the money I was expecting more. I would play again, but I would need a better price.
Rough day on the green
The course has great opportunity to be outstanding but it will take some TLC. Greens were rough due to nobody fixing ball marks. Very dry!
Good experience
The Bear was in good shape over all. The fairways had some dormant spots where the over seeding didn’t take. Greens were a little slow but ran true. Definitely will play it again.
