Bear Creek Golf Complex - Cub Course
About
The Bear Creek Golf Complex offers two golf courses, one championship length course and one executive length course, the Cub Course. This sporty course is ideal for beginners and families. Like its sister course, the Bear Course, there are rolling fairways and well-manicured greens that have unique swales and collection areas. The design features five par 4s and the rest are par 3s, all of which vary in length. A round of golf on the Cub Course can be completed in less than three hours. The Bear Creek Golf Complex also boasts several practice facilities including a lighted driving range, two putting greens, and a short game area with a bunker.

Person should not be working there, period
TT was mid-day 12/5, Cub course. I have played many times in the past and am a local resident. Much of my family comes down from Canada and the PNW for the winter, and I always recommend this course.. Bear or Cub, no matter. I have come in contact with this individual occasionally, and have always but my tongue so to speak. Many of my golf partners, as well as others have experienced similar issues if not worse than mine.
Even if an employee at a golf course/club lacks the very basic in customer service, and "looks like they are having a bad day", so to speak... it's not good, but never terrible to the point where it can jeopardize an organization's reputation. But I know by far I'm not the only one here, and this individual who goes by "Jimmy", and was the starter that day, has set the new standard of "rude", derogatory", mean, and frankly looks down right miserable. Besides my golf group there were others who also were awaiting tee-off who also said the exact same thing. All were visitors outside the local area.
As I am, like many others, polite and courteous and always forgiving... I again, followed that rule. However, I don't know how Bear Creek, any other Golf Club, or Organization of any kind, can have someone representing them who clearly doesn't want to be there. If "Jimmy" is retired, or volunteering, or maybe even partnered with the club it portrays a horrible look. And, in speaking with other groups on the course, and they (not I) are bringing up "this rude" individual, it' clearly not isolated. You all have a major problem. As everyone does a wonderful job and offers great service, as I've seen for over a decade, he is the complete opposite.
And that's what people remember. I, like a few others we spoke with say they won't return. And that's a shame cause everything else was perfect, including our golf scores. But as a retired Senior MIlitary officer I won't go to a golf course to feel like I am in basic training. I wouldn't think anyone else would either. Thank you so much.
Ideal for short ball hitters and for iron practice
A reasonable layout for and Executive course. Many Par 3s on front 9 however opens up on back. The cub course was ideal for my father who suffers from Alzheimer’s as it provided shorter yardage holes and a pace of play that was suitable to the time required to assist him when required. Price point was reasonable for 18 holes with cart. Not much discount for seniors or AZ resident that we observed. Booked through golf now. Friendly staff. Tee time was early to help accommodate extra time father requires. Would recommend to others who are looking for a course that provides some forgiveness and is not too long yardage wise.
Cart path
You guys need to raise the governor speed on the carts. What they have them set at is way to slow. It is so slow it slows down your play. Also they need to have the starters and rangers tell the same rules. The starter said we could drive on the outer edge of the fairway then cut over 90 degrees to play our shot. Then a ranger climes all up in our business about doing that. Where are we to drive once the cart path ends? It’s either the outer sides, or the dirt! The carts can’t hover! If you are going to be that strict and harsh I suggest you put in a cart path the entire length of the course.
Accommodating for all abilities
My Father has Alzheimer’s and golf is one of the few things he still can remember and do quite well with a bit of assistance. Shalimar staff patrons and other players were very understanding to the situation and the course layout was very conducive to any stray shots. Booked through golf now and price was very good. A nice little course.
Always enjoy this course
We are from Canada and hadn’t played this course for two years snd it didn’t disappoint. Look forward to playing again soon
Everything was great but the cart girl didn’t come around enough
Great course for your buck
The cub side is great for playing for kids :) we enjoyed playing with our son
Great course, a few things missed
Greens & fairways in great condition. Clubhouse was nice. Wish the Cub had distance markers, and a bathroom on the back 9. Great value overall.
Really a fun course.
Good place to work on your iron game plus there are 5 par 4 holes to use driver or fairway woods on.
All three of us really enjoyed the round. This was the first time any of us played the course.
Nice layout!
Nice layout, they were getting ready for over seeding. Very friendly staff!!! Played with a very nice couple, had a beer and lunch with them!
