Located in the West Valley, the championship-length course at the Coldwater Golf Club boasts several different challenges for an interesting round of golf. There are elevated tees as well as several dry washes. There are two lakes providing water hazards on the golf course as well. There are also dramatic elevation changes caused by the mountainous terrain. Aside from the challenging game, the course also offers beautiful mountain vistas. The course has not only one signature course but two. The first is the modest eighth hole. Although it is short at 100 yards, it features an elevated tee and a triple-tiered green. Coldwater Golf Club also finishes with a signature hole. The beginning tee shot plays to an open fairway over water with a dry wash to the left, while the approach shot is closed-in by another wash to the left and a lake to the right.

coarse needs improvements

The coarse has a lot of desert with rolling topography. Fairways and greens are blotchy and need improvement. If you just want to practice it is good value.

Good track but needs some love

I like this course and it’s a reasonable price but it needs some attention. The tee boxes are in tough shape and it’s hard to find a good spot to tee up.

The desert areas between the tee and fairways has been hard hit by cart travel so it is loose and becomes a dust storm with a little wind.

I recognize adding more grassed areas is more water and maintenance but it would add to the playability and the course aesthetics. The course appeared to be busy the day I was there so I maybe there’s some cash available to to tidy things up a bit

One green was a joke

Overall I would play again. However some pin placement were awful. On a tied green actually had the pin in the upslope. All the greens are a challenge but putting the flag in the upslope of a two tied green is actually against the rules. Just declare it a two putt green and move on.

Could be much better

First time playing this course and it was in need of much maintenance. The tee boxes were terrible and it appears they are never moved. The fairways were decent and wide open but mostly dirt off the fairways. The greens were ok and rolled pretty consistently throughout. I would play again if the tee boxes received some care and more attention was given to the rough off of the fairways.

Course is Making a Comeback

Course is well on its way to becoming an Avondale staple, great layout with elevation changes.

Her fairways and tee boxes are trending upwards, solid 8/10 and for the value of their afternoon rates 10/10.

Pros and cons

There was not enough carts so I had to wait 30 minutes after my tee time to get going. The pace of play was horrendous as well. Need more separation between tee times or encourage faster play for beginner golfers. Course was in good condition and provides good challenges. Little low of total yards

Coldwater

Atrocious conditions AND pace of play. Very welcoming inside, however. Again, the course is in terrible shape and the round was slow at. Avoid at all costs.

Good value

I’ve played a handful of courses in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area recently and this course is one of the better values. I payed about $45 and the conditions were comparable to courses charging $80-$90 range (The greens were super slow but tees, fairways, etc were comparable).
