Copper Canyon Golf Club - Vista/Lake Course
About
The course at Copper Canyon Golf Club is deceptively exclusive in that although the club has prestige and a luxurious atmosphere, there are some reasonably priced tee times. The layout features an interesting mix of holes that offer panoramic views of the White Tank Mountains to the south. The large, undulating greens that are framed by generous fairways are the trademark of the course. Water hazards come into play on a few holes and there are also sand bunkers situated throughout. This golf course offers four sets of teeboxes. Copper Canyon Golf Club has extensive practice facilities for golfers to use as well, including a full length driving range with several target greens, a large practice putting green, and a short game area with a bunker.

Excellent Course
The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Best condition of all courses we played in Surprise AZ area this trip (includes Verado Founders and Palm Valley). Personnel were very helpful and were sincere in having us as guests. Dining was a good experience too.
Even in the rain this course shines.
It poured rain for the first 7 holes or so. Still had a great time. Other than the rain I couldn't find one thing wrong with the course. The staff was friendly and courteous at all times. Tom B. the starter was great. The greens are OUTSTANDING! The fairways were in great shape. I had played a fancy Scottsdale (or snobsdale) course the week before and this place kicked its butt with one hand behind its back. A TKO in the first round. The greens and fairways were a bit soft due to the rain, but the water drained off fairly quickly. There were no big sloshy areas or mud puddles. Obviously, the collection areas off to the side of the fairways were full, but that's what they're for. I did not see a beverage cart so you'll want to stock up before going out. There are coolers on the cart. We played in about 4 hours or so. Not bad, not great. Right about on time. The rain slowed a few groups down in front of us or we would have gone faster. Even in the rain I had a great time here.
West West Side Gem
Great staff, friendly and available - greens are solid, fairways are wide and the pace of play was appropriate. Actually saw the marshall a few times which usually doesn’t happen in the summer months. Definitely worth the drive. Have lunch at Indigo, prime rib sandwich was legit and the Arnold Palmers where on point at 70/30 ice tea to lemonade. Thank you Copper Canyon for making my Saturday worth the visit. We will be back for sure!
Really worth the drive. Great layout. Wonderful staff. I cam as a single and was paired up with a local golfer and we enjoyed a terrific round. I will definitely be back and look forward to seeing how the new 9 looks
Fantastic
A little out of the way but top of the line condition.
My favorite west valley course
Copper Canyon
Always enjoy playing here, Al has the place in tip top shape. If you havent played here you really need too !
nice course with lots of sand in the wrong places
been a couple of years since playing Copper Canyon course was in excellent shape. Didn't remember that there were so many driver length fairway bunkers. Most of these bunkers had 8-10 foot high lips that left only a sand wedge to get out. 360-380 yard par fours uphill directly into a constant 15-20+ mile hour wind were almost impossible to reach. Reminded me of many Golf courses in Hawaii including the Bermuda greens. overly tough for no real reason.
Great Course and Conditions
Copper Canyon is a beautiful course and the conditions were excellent. Challenging, fun and fair. Good pace of play.
Worth the drive.
First time playing this course. It's a long way from anything, but a great layout and beautifully manicured. They are doing some reconfiguring on the back side and could use some better signage redirecting the cart path route. Also a beverage cart for on-course snacks and drinks would improve the experience.
Beautiful course
I wish this course was closer to town because it is definitely one of my favorites I have played out in Arizona so far, reminded me a lot of Verrado
In great condition
Have played here several times before but this was best experience at this course by far. Course is in excellent shape from tee to green with the greens rolling above average speed. Layout is great but the best thing this time was the pace of play. Actually finished around 4 hours which is a great improvement over the usual 5 hour round I have experienced in the past. Course is in the process of being expanded to 27 holes and was advised this should happen by late fall.
Good, but can easily be improved
Great staff, very friendly. Overall turf conditions decent, but greens were sketchy. They need to remove a large tree that totally covers the 12th hole back tee box. It's a par 5 with water on the right, and traps on the left off the tee box. Even though the tee box is elevated a large tree sits right in the middle of the launch zone, about 50 yards out. This mandates a ridiculous rope hook or a big slice, or down sizing to a 3 wood. This adds no character to the course and is totally out of place. It needs removed ASAP.
Great course greens are some of the best in the valley smooth and true also like the fast greens. The only negative was the shortness of the rough which was basically no grass but hard pan which made it dificult to use the sand / pitching wedge for short shots around the greens and mid irons off the fairway. Overall the course is perfect sand traps had just the right amount of sand and maintained well by the course personel fairways smooth tee boxes well positioned and of course the greens are fantastic.
Nice Course, A Long Ways From Anywhere
If you do not mind going on a road trip, then you will enjoy this course. The course is situated in a retirement community known as Sun City Festival. It is 12 miles west of anywhere. That means it is the only gig in town and is heavily utilized by the locals. It is a Troon course so that already tells you it is an above average course. Though the course was in good condition, it was a rather straight forward affair with relatively few twists or challenges. The greens were usually the trickiest part--most were undulated and rolling fast. The fairway grasses were in top form and the greens were in prime winter shape. I never had to play the green-side bunkers, but my playing partners reported they were not in very good shape. That may only mean they did not like playing out of bunkers. The course is nice enough, but probably not nice enough for me to make the 40 mile trip to play it again. If you are on the west side of the Valley, it may make more sense to check it out.
