Victoria Hills Golf Club
About
Victoria Hills Golf Club located in Deland has jaw-dropping beauty. Golfers will appreciate Roland Garl's vigorous bunkering, which oscillates between the expansive and the intricate, depending on the hole. An array of pot bunkers, waste bunkers, native wetlands, water sprays, bunkers integrated within a natural setting, and elevation changes rarely seen on a Florida golf course await you. Garl's course is graceful and feminine
Victoria Hills could easily be called "The State of Florida's Garden of Golf,"- inland settings such as this are virtually unprecedented in this state. Yet while the splendor and natural beauty of the property are notable, this is not simply eye candy and lazy golf. Victoria Hills, as one player put it, "is a blast to play". In any evaluation, it's difficult to imagine how a golfer would not rate a round here as one of their most enjoyable in Florida.

Victoria hills in February
The course has changed over the years. The course and greens were in poor condition probably due to lack of water
The course is challenging but I love it.
Golf
Course is fairly difficult. Greens in poor condition.
Overall course is fun lot of sand and water.
Front 9 greens are bad and will be for awhile
The front 9 greens were applied with the wrong chemical by the now fired greens keeper from what I was told. They are unplayable since they are hard as rock and looks like Hyroseed had dried and turned in to concrete.
The staff was extremely friendly and appreciated everyone playing their course even with green issue.
Tried Again
Ive posted several times about this course and while last spring/early summer showed improvement, its taken a nose dive since then. The former greenskeeper applied the wrong chemical to the greens and the front 9 is really rough, back nine is much better. Bottom line, the owner doesnt want to invest the money needed to make this a consistent course. He's cheap, takes the cheap way out and because of that, you have a cheap golf course. The staff is continuously changing and that's a reflection on leadership. And overall management is severely lacking. This is the second superintendent that used the wrong chemical in the last 3 years, damaging greens. It begs the question, who is managing here?
That said, its a fantastic layout, which is the only reason to come back here.
Hack
The greens had very little grass and the fairways were not that much better. Not much fun hitting off dirt and puttting on ice.
fairways rough . greens under
construction.kept inserting players in front of us.wont be back.
Needs upkeep
Challenging layout but course needs an investment in greens and tee blocks
In spite of that we will continue to come back
Going down hill
Hadn’t played this course in three years and it was bad then don’t waste your money or time Glen Abbey is better and that’s saying a lot
No greens on front 9, 5 greens on back nine. Maybe worth price of bucket of balls. Try over seeding. Like playing on the cart path...
Worse than Glen Abbey
This course has really gone down hill. No grass on the fairways, greens are fast like putting on concrete shouldn’t be anymore than $20 to play
Front 9 greens are horrendous
When playing, I heard from the other 3 that I went off with that the greens keeper put down or sprayed the the wrong chemical on them. They were hard as rock and looked and smelled like dried Hydro Seed. They let the grounds keeper go. Good thing. It will take a long time to get those greens back in a playable condition. This time of year- end of Jan- the grass is dormant- but those greens were really bad.
We played in a 2 ball behind a 3 ball who persistently took a long time to play the course holding us up. We eventually had to force our way past them. If there had been a ranger then we could have avoided this unpleasant and unnecessary hold up.
Disappointed
Played here a few years back, what happened? Front nine greens in terrible shape some kind of fungus. Fairways are bare in quite a few spots. The clubhouse and restaurant are still busy, but no money for maintenance on course. Hopefully they can bring this course back. For the price, it’s a good place to practice..
Beautiful layout Poor condition
This was one of the most interesting layouts that I have played on in Florida but the conditions were very poor especially the front nine greens. If they would improve the conditions, this would be one of the best golf courses to play.
I like this course
this is an interesting course that I would play more often except for it being about an hour away plus some $15 in gas and tolls...yesterday the greens were very hard and fast with little grass and was impossible to putt on consistently...even 5 putted a par 3 and am not usually that bad...there is some terrain variations, giant sand traps, with most holes very different from each other. If you are closer, I would recommend a visit. They do not allow carts in the parking lot which is annoying for equipment loading
Nice Course
Enjoyed another great day. Only recommendation is that maybe the carts be allowed closer to the greens since us senior citizens don't move as fast as we used to.
Gr8 Course practice sand shots
If your lacking sand traps and bunker shots this would be the perfect course. also
have your range finder with you, cause you will need it to avoid thm.
I told the pro shop did thy bring the beach to the course ( total of 18000 sqaure feet of sand on this course ) good news the bar know how to make Three wise man hunting a golf ball and the Rebens a mouthful..
good luck and watch the video attached
