Victoria Hills Golf Club located in Deland has jaw-dropping beauty. Golfers will appreciate Roland Garl's vigorous bunkering, which oscillates between the expansive and the intricate, depending on the hole. An array of pot bunkers, waste bunkers, native wetlands, water sprays, bunkers integrated within a natural setting, and elevation changes rarely seen on a Florida golf course await you. Victoria Hills could easily be called "The State of Florida's Garden of Golf,"- inland settings such as this are virtually unprecedented in this state. Yet while the splendor and natural beauty of the property are notable, this is not simply eye candy and lazy golf. Victoria Hills, as one player put it, "is a blast to play". In any evaluation, it's difficult to imagine how a golfer would not rate a round here as one of their most enjoyable in Florida.

Needs Some TLC
No golf shop…not sure why that is. Main issue was lack of healthy grass on the course. Really good layout and normally fun to play. Will be back when conditions improve

Nice Layout Nefing Grass
This course has a very nice layout - interesting and challenging golf holes. There is not much grass on the fairways. Instead of sitting up on grass, the ball goes down to mud or dirt. I do not enjoy hitting the majority of my shots off of dirt.
Greens were tough to putt as well.
At Victoria Hills the emphasis has clearly been making massive profits with the hundreds of homes built around the course. Keeping up a formerly excellent golf course appears to be a much lower priority.

They let this great track turn into a cow pasture, and the cows are starving. Little grass anywhere.

With a Golf Now Hot Deal and other discounts, my round cost me nothing. Given the condition the course is in, that was still overpriced.

Hardpan fairways
The course was so dry that even perfect drives in the middle of the fairway were on hard dirt. It’s obvious that they are not irrigating the course at all. Greens were in terrible shape. Again so dry that they played unfairly fast. Spotted and in some cases turf normally found on the fairway. Overall just in bad shape for the money they charge to play. Even though I live in Victoria Park I will choose to play elsewhere.

Officially the #1 worst course in Volusia County
1) Greens are full of crabgrass, no chance of getting a true roll.
2) Pace of play is ALWAYS slow, they do nothing to speed it up.
3) No starter, no pro shop, no pro, you check in at the bar.
4) No grass on the fairways. Like hitting off hard-pan? Then you will love this course.

Delays and temporary tee boxes without notice
Was disappointed to show up for a 7am tee time only to find out there is a frost delay and couldn’t tee off until 9:30am and then to find out that the front nine are all temporary tee boxes in the middle of the fairway. Way to overpriced for a course under construction

Tee boxes moved on front 9
The tee off areas for the first 9 holes were moved about 100 yards forward because of re-seeding. This was not mentioned on the web page I booked it on and was not mentioned until my partner asked about the course conditions.
We do apologize that you were not notified about the construction underway on the front side. We made the decision to overseed the front 9 holes since we were not satisfied with the turf coverage on the tee boxes. This was done only on the front side, the back nine remains unchanged. This was done to provide improved turf coverage as we continue thru the first quarter of the year.

Course has the front nine playing from made up tee boxes. Playing like a par 3 course. Check b4 you book. Play when the course is open for full length.

Bad Fairways and green and tee boxes
I understand new owners bought course recently. It is very apparent not putting money into course to make it nice. I talked to a couple of members who are upset also, they are leaving shortly. Sad as all the members will leave with these kinds of conditions. I cancelled next week tee times because of condition yesterday. Use to play 4-5 times every January when I come down for the month. Sad

Most of the tee boxes are closed. It looks like they are
planting seeds to help them along. No mention of this
before you book it or even after you arrive at the club house. There are very few distance markers on the
course -There are a few in the fairways and I don't remember any 150 yard markers at all. The greens are scalped and not consistent at all. I was very disappointed. I hadn't played this course for perhaps 4 or 5 months but it will be longer before I go back.

Teeing Ground
Wish they would have told us on GolfNow that the Tees for the front nine were all moved up beyond the ladies tee and sitting in the middle of the fairway. The back nine was fine.
