Best fairways and Greens in the Area but Strange Layout on 5’s

Greens and fairways were amazing. Great condition. Turf was really nice. Only problems were some shots (Mainly par 5’s) landing areas were too short and carry over gaps were unreachable, forcing hybrid or iron shots off the tee.. I guess we could have played. The back tees…but that would have made it a long day. No happy medium here..Ranger was pretty passive aggressive with us on the front nine. If you are a short hitter, you will like this setup,

Stonewall Golf Club

Play was unusually slow on the front nine today. Someone in my group called the Clubhouse for a Marshall to come out a and get them moving. The Marshall informed us that there were 4 holes open in front of that group. We pplayed through on hole #10. By that time we were in for what turned out to be a 5 hour and 45 minute round. That length of time was highly unacceptable. Yes, we should have called earlier. But, when a group looks back and sees another group waiting on them on each hole, then they should pick up the pace on their own. They could have even waved us (& subsequent groups) to play through. Golf etiquette comes into play. We got rained on through the last 3 holes. It would have been a more enjoyable round if it hadn't taken 5 hours and 45 minutes to play! I love the course, it's in great shape for this time of the year.

In Great Shape

Course was in excellent condition. My only concern was the speed of the greens. The practice greens rolled much faster than on the course. Otherwise awesome day!

Was a great day out and will play there again. Slightly bothered by a couple things: not enough rakes on the big sand traps and SUPER slow greens. Other than that, terrific!!!

Best Club Yet

I've played most of the clubs around northern Virginia and this has been my favorite. Free range balls and practice spots before you play, and the course was in great condition. The layouts were fun, and the views were so AMAZING I didn't even care how I played. Definitely going back.

Beautiful

One of the most beautiful courses I have ever played. Well maintained. Challenging course but good range of tee options to meet individual capabilities. Pictures don’t tell the whole story. You need to see the course in person

Best Public Course in the Area

I've played Stonewall many times over the last several years. It is the best public course that I'ver played in the NoVA area. It is a challenging but (usually) fair course. It rewards good shots and can penalize bad ones. Its been well cared for and has some picturesque views of Lake Manassas. The club house is a great way to finish a round with very good food and a nice selection of cold beverages. Can't wait to play it again.
