The Shark's turned in what's widely regarded as the second-toughest course at PGA WEST - Greg Norman Course in La Quinta.

No small feat considering the developers of the neighboring TPC Stadium ordered Pete Dye to make it, "the hardest damn golf course in the world."

"There's a difference," said Jack Guevera, a golfer who's played both. "You might think you have it easy if you play the Norman after the Stadium .... But probably not."

Here's the difference: Dye tries to kill you at TPC Stadium. Norman only wants to beat you to a pulp.

Not that pummeling does not have its highlights. Norman's 216-yard, par-3 13th is the kind of hole that seizes your attention and lingers in memory after the round.

What little fairway there is curves around toward a man-made lake. It is also tilted down on a sharp angle to the water, giving the golfer the effect of hitting along a ledge.

Each shot is a tap dance here. You could not even get odds in Vegas on your chances of avoiding all of the deep, slanted bunkers that squeeze the mini fairway even tighter.

It was our first time playing this course...it is some what challenging...the course layout is great, love the water and even the bunkers...some holes have at least 15 bunkers...but it was fun. We loved it.

Fast pace, even faster greens!!!

First time here, employees were very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful clubhouse and practice facility. Starter gave some pointers. Pace of play was 4hrs and some change on Memorial day. Water and ice machine. Carts were clean and comfy, very nice gps as well. Course had maybe, 1 brown spot. Course was immaculate. Oh yeah, 50bucks at 1pm, couldn’t beat that with a baseball bat! Thanks to everyone who is employed here, for a great time!

Beautiful course

The course is beautiful. A few of the holes need better directions to follow in a cart to get to them. Overall the course was very nice and for the most part player friendly.

Norman Course PGA West

Course was in decent shape. Several Fairways were starting to get thin and burned out. Greens were very good rolling around 11 and rolling true. Course layout was good, a few holes look the same as others. Would play this course again

Just a really great experience all around. The course was challenging, but fair for the average golfer. The layout and conditions were exceptional. I found the greens to be challening for shot placement, but fair and they rolled true. I will be back to play this course again.

Very good course

Great facilities, great customer service. The course itself is very good, but I wouldn't say great. The fairways are closely bordered by rock hard desert and balls carom off the desert (sometimes for the good but mostly for the bad) into trouble often. So you have to be precise. Another small nit pick would be the shape of the greens. Most are not mostly round which makes it harder to hit the greens. But overall the course is very good, since it is a little out of the way, i don't think it gets as much play and the price is a bit more reasonable. I played the course 2x this week. The first time the greens were nice and relatively fast, the second time they were a little slower. Teed off at 2:51 as a 2 some and finished in 3 hours which was great.
