Fun and challenging course
Played this course for the first time and enjoyed it. Great layout , water almost on very hole so the course will challenge you to pick your spots and shots. The only recommendations is for bottled water to be provided on the course would be nice. Would definitely play this course again.
If you have not played Cimarrone…..
you need to play it! Other than the slow greens it is a very good test of golf, and a very challenging layout at a very fair price!
Getting better but still a long way to go
This course was somewhat recently sold. The new ownership has done a fantastic job of making some much needed renovations and improvements. That said, there's still a lot that needs attention. Most importantly, several (most) of the greens are in really bad shape (especially on the back 9). Several had what looked like very poorly laid patches of sod. This definitely affects approach shots and putts. Some of the tee boxes were also a bit chewed up. Overall this course is in much better shape than a year ago, but it is frustrating to pay top dollar for a course with some of the ongoing maintenance issues that have yet to be rectified. Other courses in the area have also gone through simialrly extensive renovations and are not in the same state as Cimarrone. We are blessed with plenty of courses in this area. It's hard to justify paying the same or more to play here when the course is in the shape its in. Also, since the new ownership has taken over it has become very unfriendly for singles. I used to play here after work or if I saw some open time on a weekend afternoon. Now, you can't book as a single on GolfNow and the club house staff aren't too happy when a single calls or shows up. Again, there's plenty of alternatives nearby that don't do this. It's just unfortunate because I absolutely love this course/layout. Hopefully one day soon it will be all straightened out.
Great Course
Beautiful course, plays quickly and has a number of challenging holes. Fairways and tee boxes very nice. 8 of the greens had been damaged by fungus and had repair areas and pretty heavy sand. Once the repairs are completed this is a beautiful, fun course to play with a great clubhouse and staff.
Greatly improved
New owner really making this course one of my favorites. Greens much improved in the past year. Everything mowed to perfection. The clubhouse and restaurant have been remodeled and the staff is very efficient. This course is a great "sleeper" in St Johns county.
I wholeheartedly agree! I played there yesterday. The tees, the fairways the sand traps and the clubhouse are all excellent. The greens are still slow due to a number of issues, such as the torrid summer heat and humidity that all golf courses in Florida are challenged by. There are other issues that the new ownership has recently identified. There is a plan in place to correct those issues in the coming weeks. Cimarrone deserves more than 3 1/2 stars. I think it will exceed that in the coming months. I will keep you posted as I play there often.
Course
Other than a few bad spots on the greens the tees and fairways where in great condition
Better than reviews
I was pleasantly surprised based on some of the negative reviews I read. Only a few greens had algea/fungus issues but they were still playable. Don't listen to the negative reports, not the best condition but as good or better than most of the public courses in Jax.
Jsvrr1
Great value Great course condition except some greens were in fair condition because of fungus or water
Trash greens
Rough conditions. Greens are absolute trash and damaged. No starter or ranger monitoring the play.
I would try another course and pay more if needed.
TRASH? That word is too harsh. They were trash when the new owner took over about a year ago. They have come a long way. Many of them have been re-sodded. They are being kept long because of the summer heat which makes them slow. They aereated a month ago. They are scheduled to be pinhole punched on Monday the 18th. They need a little more time. The tees and fairways and bunkers are as good if not better than any course in the area. I know because I play there every week as well as other area courses.
Played a few months ago and was headed in the right direction. However, played this past weekend and only 2 greens in front 12 holes were playable. Was disappointed took three steps backward.

Great layout and fun day. Greens need work!
Saturday morning round ended up being a little over 5 hours. Expected for a Saturday though.
Greens are the only thing holding this course back from being one of the best in the area. Looks like they're planning to do the work here and are proactively giving tee time credits and drink coupons in the club house because of the work being done which is a nice touch.
BEST VALUE
Of the 4 courses on CR 210, Cimarrone is the best value for the money. The tees, the fairways, and the sand traps are in excellent condition. The greens are getting better every month. They are still a little slow. And the 14th and 15th are still a little rough But they are very puttable. This is the most challenging layout in the area next to TPC Sawgrass. The clubhouse was just remodeled and is very nice.
Lots of changes and improvements
New owners making a big difference. Appreciate the efforts and investment. Once greens are done it will be awesome. Worth it now for sure.
Toughest layout in the Area Next to TPC Sawgrass for a Fraction of the Price!
A must play in the JAX / St. Augustine area. Course and clubhouse are finishing major refurbishment. Tee boxes, fairways and sand traps are groomed and excellent. The greens are slow during this hot weather but the ball rolls straight and true. Staff is friendly and professional. Water on 16 holes and greenside mounds like TPC Sawgrass. Greens 16 and 17 are still a little rough but are coming back. This course will test every shot in your bag.
World Golf Village Stay & Play Package
Total BS! I have never had an issue booking a teetime there as a single. I play there weekly as a single. I call the pro shop, and they are more than happy to accommodate me. There is nothing wrong with any of the tee boxes. Yes, the greens are slow and they are patchy and they are still working on them. The fairways and the sand traps are in very good condition as are the tees As for value , the other “ local “ courses. For example, South Hampton had an $80 Green green fee on Sunday morning between eight and ten . during the week it is sixty five dollars between eight and ten . Saint Johns golf and country club that I played recently was $78 on a weekday morning. Cimarrone’s green fee was $55 this morning.
